Gibson & Barnes Lambskin, anyone?

Post by rrhanselka »

I've seen several posts about the G&B Goatskin. It seems to be the hide of choice from G&B, including myself, since I own one. But has anyone got a G& B Lambskin Indy jacket? If so, please let me know what you think and pics also.

Many Thanks

I tried one on when at the 2nd QM summit. I LOVED it, but the sleeves were to short. :( Dave Marshall was going to have longer sleeves put on, but things changed at FS right after that, and I never heard anymore about it, so I didn't get one.

It wasn't quite as soft as the Wested leather, but seemed quite substantial for a lambskin.

MIchaelson....
I would love to have a drink with you and talk for a day or two. You seem to have been involved with every one of the vendors that I admire the most. You are truly a "knower of things", and I will be in touch.

Hats off to you, my friend

The G&B lamb is great! :) This one is everything I have wanted in an Indy jacket and more. ;) (I have owned two Wested's in the past, and currently have a couple of U.S. Wings, and a Todd's Custom)

This is the dark brown lambskin... Quite supple, yet durable. :)

I am 5' 11" and my chest is a hair under 44 inches. The jacket is a 44 Regular.

The jacket is roomy enough for a sweater. :) To me it is the perfect fit. I like this kind of look......

The dark brown is pretty much on the money also IMO.. ;) Check out some of these other features..

Here's my G&B Lambskin........I love it. I've owned a Wested Goat and one of Todd's Standard jackets and this jacket to me is the best of both worlds. Very light and yet durable...... :D

It's still very brand new and I'm slowly breaking it in.

I was thinking about a Long US Wings Vintage Cowhide ($382) but for $80 more I can get a G & B Expedition. Geez, I don't know. G&B is that much better? :?

As I said, I have the goatskin G&B and love it. Your photos make me think I need one in Lambskin, also. As soon as I get the Limited Edition
U.S. Wings Cowhide, of course. Or maybe a Todd's Custom? HMMMMMMMM!

Many Thanks

Indiana Holt.....
After all of your Westeds, you owe it to yourself to try a G&B. Order your regular size for a loose fit and a size smaller for snug. I can't tell you how much more sturdier these jackets are. They are made to "Mil Spec", "military specifications", that is, and SA also. You should really try one.

You'll see what I mean.

yeah I am sure I am going for one.but not sure if I should get the goat or the lamb.

I want the jacket to be so-so durable.I want it to outlast me.

my regular size is just in between sizes.I find thet the 44 wested has a little to long jacket length and the 42 wested has the perfect jacket length but to thight in the chest if I want a sweater under it.off course this is wested's jackets..I dont know how the G&B are?I just dont want to return it again after I got it.

what size do you have?

so what do I do?what size?

Holt, I've never owned a Wested Lambskin so I can't say how my G&B Lambskin jacket compares to that......

If your looking for a more durable hide then I'd say order the goatskin.....If your looking for something that's a bit softer and is going to distress more quickly then go for the Lambskin....

That being said I'm not worried one bit about this G&B Lambskin jacket being with me for a long time. ;)

ohh?I thought you had a wested up for purchase 6 months agot or something?

hmm maby I remeber wrong?

anywho I am serious thinking of a G&B.I talked to Dave marshall today from G&B.

he said if you want a more durable jacket go for the goat.and he also said the goat leather they uses weighs 3oz.now my only question is....how much is that in kilo?

thanks

I may get a Expedition in a 44T. It was either that or US Wings Vintage Cowhide in 44L. It'll be my 1st Indy jacket.

Indiana Holt.....
If you want a jacket that you can wear for the rest of your life, to weddings, on safari, or to #### and back, then leave it to your grandkids, go with, the goat. I've got one, after several lamb jackets from Wested and others, and although I love the lamb, if I were going on the Last Crusade, GIVE ME THE GOAT. Seriously, you will be impressed, pleased, tickled, and ecstatic.

I love my G&B goat so much, I want a G&B lamb, in black or russett or brown.

My 2 cents

I owned Todd's Standard Lambskin jacket. Maybe that's what your thinking of?

Now compairing those two jackets. The lambskin on the G&B feels a little thicker and might be a little bit more durable. It's hard to say though. I never got the chance to really put Todd's jacket to the test before I sold it. I do plan on getting another one of his down the road in XXL. I'd like to have one jacket to keep nice and another to just distress and dirty up for pics. :)
