Me either ! :D

Ron is a good man with great hats. Mine are also IMHO very good themselves. I am anticipating more developments on my front soon re: brown bodies. Stay tuned.

Thanks

I'm sure the Federations are great, and if I can ever afford one I might get it. But I'm getting a Camptown. They seem like the best you can possibly get for the money. Can't wait to get it. Mailing the money off to Ken tomorrow.

Any idea how much they are to get started? I'm getting set to send him some money too, but I wasn't sure how much.

I'm pretty sure it's $175 money order. Right now it's free shipping and free styling, if you send money order. You can see some details here.

viewtopic.php?p=390423#390423

I ended up getting this cashier's check thing instead. They told me it was pretty much the same thing, so hopefully I'm squared away. Ken says something about an $80 pre-order price to get people into the mix. I figured it doesn't hurt to just send the whole $175 right off and get the hat whenever it's available.

I guess I'd recommend e-mailing or pm'ing Ken to confirm this, if you want. Let me know what he says if you talk to him.

You know I've checked out both these hats and they're both well made and durable, BUT...the Camptown color is just beautiful. And the sale for COW members (bash included and shipping too if paid by money order) is a really good deal. I decided to send my payment in for a Camptown. That way I'll have a Keppler and a Camptown while waiting for my AB.

Does anyone else have 3 or more hats? Or am I more hat crazy than I thought?

Hi all,

First thank you for your orders. Please keep them coming.

Second, I will take either an $80 deposit to place your order, balance due before I ship or you can pay the whole $175. As long As I get the base amount I need to satisfy my factory tab, I can get you in the mix.

Third, I am always open to questions and concerns, so call 973 477 0934 or email camptownhats@yahoo.com

Thanks so much !

Ken Spassione - JJ

P.S. I just CUT DOWN my hat collection to 7 brown hats. No you are NOT crazy !

WOW!! The deposite thing has me really wanting your hat now. Do we know if the the brim on the CS fed is cut the same as the raiders? I want the CS bash but I like the cut brim. Also...I wear a size 7 hat. Is that out of the norm size wise?

It can't be that out of the norm, as apparently it's the size I would wear.

Now are we talking more than three Indy fedoras or just fedoras in general. If we are talking fedoras in general, well my collection isn't a huge as what Douglas has over at the Fedora Lounge, that collection is approaching epic proportions, but I'd say I have about 25 or 30 lids, mostly of the vintage variety (50 to 70 years in age). But, I'd have to count again. Is that crazy enough? :?

Cheers!

I've got three other fedoras, and one supposedly official Indy hat from long ago that looks much more like a cowboy hat than a fedora. But those are all 100% wool, so I wouldn't count them. This camptown is gonna be my first "real" fedora as far as I'm concerned.

I had one from the Disney theme parks, but it got smashed in transit anyway, and it was 13 years old, so I have a few coming my way in the mail. Woo Hoo!

Well after all my research, and believe me as a nurse I'm quite anal about research, I decided on the Camptown. It's a blend, the color is great, it comes bashed if you want, it's guaranteed, seems indestructible and the price until the end of May is too good to pass up...

So my collection = Keppler
And soon to come: AB, Camptown and a Magnoli HJ.

That's all I need for my adventuresome self. :whip:

Camptown has a 5 1/2 in. crown.

Ron says this about the Federation IV:
Crown height is 5 5/8ths inches. It is 1/8 higher than the current Indiana Jones movie. The key issue in choosing this block is the flatter dome and slightly lower height than the current models. The blocks are an original wooden set which have not been used for over 30 years.
Slight lower, hmm. Some folks have complained that the current Federations were too tall. Too tall for a Raiders hat? I don't know.

I still worry the Camptown isn't tall enough, but then again it is superior in so many other ways, and 5 1/2 could be plenty tall. I can't remember, but I think the original Raiders hat was 5 1/2 anyways. EDIT: Yep. I guess it was 5 1/2 inches. In that respect the Camptown is Raiders accurate. But is the ribbon really the right color? It doesn't look dark enough to me.

Hate to be picky. :) Just wanna get the best hat.
Ken's website has the crown height listed as 5.75 inches on the Our Products page, but when you click on more information it says the crown height is 5 1/2 inches. Which measurement is correct? I really hope it's 5.75 inches.

Ken says he measured it at 5.75 inches. That part where it says 5 1/2 inches just needs to be updated.

Thanks. 8) I really loved how it looked there. That cairo hat always looks so awesome. That's the look I'm going for when I bash my hat.

Oh, I see. Haha. You thought that was my hat. I sure wish it was. That's Indiana Jones himself there from one of the scenes in Cairo. :) I guess that explains why it looks so amazing.

Haha, indeed. I like to think I look like Ford anyway. :) Hopefully when I take pictures of me in my hat I'll get people to think it's a shot from Raiders. 8)
