Lambskin confused.

Post by PLATON »

I thought I tried to list what versions of lambskin are currently available from Wested cause I am a little confused.

Authentic lambskin
Dark Brown Lambskin
Predistressed seal brown lambskin
Authentic in seal brown
Crunch lambskin

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're good, except that Authentic Lambskin and Authentic in Seal Brown Lambskin is the same thing.

See, that just figures.... :o

I just finished trading emails with Gemma about some specs. for a Raiders jacket and Peter goes and introduces something called Predistressed Washed Lambskin

Now I've got to re-evaluate the whole mess.

Ok, so out with it then, what's the predistressed washed lamb all about?

Peter,
Are you offering a washed NON-distressed Authentic Brown Lambskin? I think it would be a major improvement for the Indy jackets seeing as that they don't look so perfect when they're just out of the bag. A washed lambskin right out of the box should be alot more relaxed, right?

It's my undewrstanding that most or all of the film jackets received water treatements before that made their way in front of the camera. The prewashed leathers I've seen from other vendors seem to give it just a bit of an edge when comparing the leather to what we see on film. I'm speaking only of the leather and how it reacts, not of any of the details of the jacket itself.

That would make more sense Agent5, giving them a little water distressing does not hurt. I sat in the rain and got my first jacket a good drenching, unfortunately it was not enough, maybe when the rains come tomorrow to give it another shower. I think giving it a good soak does loosen it up some how it is reacting to it. Maybe this is what this predistressed washed lambskin is.

I have requested samples of all lambskins before I even started this thread. I hope they come soon.

After viewing the samples on the Wested website, it seems that there is a difference in the grain between the authentic lambskin and the dark brown lambskin. I'm drawn to the smooth texture of the authentic lambskin, but I would rather have the dark brown color.

Maybe I should have put this in the form of a question. Is the authentic lambskin a different type of lambskin than the dark brown lambskin? And can you get the authentic lambskin in dark brown?

The authentic lambskin refers to the color of the leather. It is supposedly closer to the original color of the leather used on the original RotLA. The dark lambskin is a darker brown leather and is what Wested used before the authentic came about. Therefore, getting an authentic lambskin in dark brown is not possible.
