I've just ordered my first AB. I spoke with Steve a few times last week and paid today. Should arrive by the end of the year. Yes!

awesome! I think having an assistant is going to help with the wait times.
I can't wait for mine! Well, I can wait, I have to- but you know what I mean.

Now you need a jacket. A bag. Boots. A whip. some khakis, .....

Well I have a Keppler on the way and some close enough khakis I bought at Target, their khaki chinos. I'll probably order a whip from Gus Caicedo next month. I think I'm well on my way.

Any suggestions on what jacket to buy to complete my Indy Gear? I already know where I am going to get my whip, shirt, boots and bag from but can't decide on a jacket. I was thinking about Todd's standard jacket. Anything else in that price range that won't look out of place with an amazing looking AB? I wan't it all to look as good as the fedora.

Todd's, from what I hear, is a great jacket. There really isn't anything else in that price range that looks good. The only other jacket I could recommend is the Wested, which will probably hold up better to real life adventures. :junior: -M

Then I may just save up some more for a Wested. At least I should have all my gear by the time by AB arrives. In fact, I think that will be my goal. Don't let me slack off.

I'd definitely recommend that. If it were me, I'd go for either a goat or horsehide jacket - those things will stand up to some serious punishment. I fell off a moving car (no, there weren't any nazi's on it  ) just a few days after getting my goatskin wested and let me tell you it REALLY protected me.

Thanks to that jacket, my torso and arms were left COMPLETELY unharmed (although my head had a couple nasty bumps and bruises) and the jacket itself had only a few scratches - the worst of which was strangely on the shoulder. My personal endorsement for Wested and a decent adventure story to boot! :junior: -M

Congrats on the order. I'm planning on ordering a second AB shortly. It is such a good hat I just can't bring myself to order anything else.

I will probably order a grey one (or is it brown?) in a bit. Steve was great to deal with so I don't think I will be ordering a hat from anyone else ever again. Though Lee was great as well.

I have a dark brown lamb wested and it looks pretty sharp with my AB, but thats not in the Todd's standard price range. From the pics I've seen the Todd's standard looks great, and I'll be picking one up in the not too distant future...and the word is that the Todd standard is a bit lighter in weight, which would be nice for the Florida weather.

You really will love your AB when you get it. I'm looking at ordering a grey AB myself, just another item on the old gear wish list.

I've seen a lot lately about ordering grey fedoras. Does Ford have a grey one at the end of Raiders that I just can't seem to notice, or is it just to spice things up for people?

I think the feodra that is worn in Washington at the end of Raiders is the same one worn on the plane to Nepal. If you ask me its grey. That aside, grey or dark grey is the most ideal color fedora, in my opinion, as it matches with almost any color. Brown is definately my favorite, but doesn't always match with what I wear. A grey fedora is great for those times when one is not wearing natural "Earth-y" tones.

Ah, that's what I suspected (as far as a grey fedora on the plane, as well as at the end). You are certainly right about the earth tones. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Some of the biggest arguments that we have ever had on this site is wether the hat on the plane and the hat on the steps was gray or brown. We have had multiple sources get the word from Steven Spielberg himself, that the hat in Raiders in those two scenes was gray, but some still don't believe it. There will also be a gray hat in KotCS, and we got that info from the guy that made the hat.

Spielberg said that he has always felt that Indy had more than one hat. He had a nice traveling hat that he would wear with suits, and he also had his beat up, brown, adventure hat that he wears with his leather jacket out on adventures. I hope this clears up several years worth of arguments in two short paragraphs.

Bufflehead Jones, that is very intruiging, and it makes a lot of sense. Indy is a classy enough guy that he would do something like that. I like it.

Indy and I share that in common then. Grey is just about the classiest color fedora you can buy. I even prefer charcoal colored suits to black because you get that grey tint in them.
