US Wings Leather Quandary - Help?
Does anyone know what type of leather this is for sure? I have it listed in the Bazaar, but I'm not 100% sure what it is. It is alot heavier than my Wested Lamb, so I was thinking Cowhide or Goat?

Man, bummer about that back panel! I'm not sure what that is exactly, the grain looks like it could be goat, but goatskin is not all that much heavier than lamb, at least mine is not. Here's a pic of my very well worn Wings goatskin jacket, for comparison.

If you googled the 30-1415 number, I don't think that will tell you very much: I have the same number in my jacket, and it sure isn't a horsehide A2! Goatskin has alot of pebbleing (is that a word?) in the grain. Can you give us more of a close up, or a macro shot? Also, if you could nail down the year it was made, that could help.

I'm pretty sure it's been established via previous discussions that the vertical seam on the back is not the norm, and rather a variation that occurred on some of their imports that they cleared out last Spring.
I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure. So you shouldn't have to worry about it. I don't think any of their current, made-in-USA jackets have that.

Correct. Most of the lambskin jackets had the seam as they used every piece of lambskin they could get their hands on to make a jacket. Lambskin doesn't come in very large pieces, so it was sectioned in.
I have never owned a cowhide or goatskin from Wings that was sectioned like that in the back.
