Well, I just ordered an Adventurebilt Fedora! After reading post after post of everyone going from one hat to the next, and eventually ending up at Steve's door anyway, plus having a disappointment from another 'factory' made hat myself, I figured in the long run it would be better just to skip all the others and go straight for the Best- Adventurebilt!

Now comes the hard part- no, not the wait, but the "Honey..."

Just buy some of Marc's new Aldens and she will forget about the hat!

Oh boy...boots are gonna have to wait- for now. I had already 'convinced' her on ordering a Wested, since I sold my Cooper Disney, and I have a pair of 'close enoughs' to do me.
I'm without a brown fedora though, so I'm gonna need a holdover while waiting- I have an ad in the Marrakesh section looking for a used Fed.

Pricey, yes, but quality is always worth it. When you get that AB in your greedy little hands, you will forget about the cost.

As for the SO, just tell her to wait and see how good and classy you look. She'll melt every time you put on The Hat.

Cheers

Have you considered buying her a little present to ease the transition? You'd be amazed what bribery can accomplish. :junior: -M

Do what I did. Sell something you don't need anymore and buy an AB and a straw PB. That way the wife can't say anything. Also go ahead and buy her something, cause you will want something else tomorrow.

Interesting about getting "spendy"....

I totaled up over $1,000.00 in gear and clothing I need to order...and that is NOT including the new AB Aldens.

Which I will not be getting. No offense, Marc, but I just can't justify that price tag to myself.

Absolutely- I know this is a hat I'll be wearing the rest of my life.
-Just got an order confirm email from 'The Man' himself. I gotta tell ya, reading those typed words of his got me all giddy! -Like I was talking to a celebrity, only a celebrity I liked. Oh, wait- he IS a celebrity!

Something like the Marion dress?

Congrats on the order.

Just making sure I'm clear on the abbreviations...

What are "AB Aldens"?

Does Adventurebilt sell the boots? Or does AB mean something different in this context?

Thanks!

Adventurebilt is now selling an even more screen accurate version of the Aldens 405.

Ah, really! Is there a link? I can't find anything about that on the AB site.

Thanks,

Hold up! Let's not have a general gear discussion break out in the middle of a fedora thread. =;

You can find the discussion about the Aldens in the general gear section.
