Indy shirt close NH dye(Updated direct pics)

Hello to all!

I am new in this forum and as a start I would like to post a thread that Dalexs mentioned on a previous topic. As I was doing some research I found out that a very close dye for someone's shirt is the Dylon Reindeer Beige n.22(multi-purpose dye). Dylon ships this dye worldwide as well as other specialised internet websites. Just google the name and you will find it. Here are the procedures that I followed during the process. The results are excellent! The main difference with the NH shirt is that the NH has a bit more grey or less tan.

The shirt I used was a standard 100% Cotton Zara white shirt which I think it is partially mercerised therefore having the shining effect like the NH. The colour dye used was Brittish manufactured: Dylon Reindeer Beige n. 22. Since this dye is multi-purpose it should be used with the big pot method. 1 tin is good for 250g. of fabric, meaning...one shirt(229g.)
Quantity of water is partially irrelevant, it should be used such as for> the shirt to be able to move freely in the pot.

1) Bring the water + 30g. of salt into boiling point.
2) Dillute the dye in 500 mL. of boiling water
3) Throw dye sollution in the pot and put the shirt in
4) Cook at slow boiling temp for 20 min. I would recommend 25 min. for stronger results on time.
5) Rinse throughly by hand in order to take off all the dye leftovers.

The colour after rinsing is different than the final colour so there should be no direct heat or sun for the first dry. My next project might be to dye that colour my wested shirt. However, it's just an idea since the procedure will involve colour removal and dyeing!

In the various websites I saw other interesting colours which could go for the pants but the problem is the wool. I think colours like Cold Dylon Dye Grey or Cafe au Lait can be appropriate but those are just guesses.

Heyo,

Dylon dyes are much easier to locate than Rit here in NZ, so that's pretty much what I use for dying clothes, MKVII bags, etc. I find that I prefer working with the permanent Cold Dyes where possible.

I'll add that you can also use the multi-purpose dye in a bucket if you don't have a suitable pot or element; just fill the bucket with boiling water to begin with, and it'll stay hot enough for the twenty minutes they recommend.

For a Dylon site with a bit more info than the UK one, and that is easier to navigate, I'd recommend www.dylon.com.au

Hi there freeman!

Yours site is much better than the new one of Dylon UK. I didn't spot all the colours though. Do you know if Dylon is changing production or something similar? or the colour chart is just a sample of colours?

I think it's just a sample; I noticed that Reindeer Beige doesn't appear on that site's colour charts, but I've seen it in the shops over here, and there are also a lot of places selling it online.

Other colours like Elephant Grey, Cerise, and Desert Dust don't show up on the multi-purpose chart either.

Some members might correctly wonder why I don't post comparison images. The problem is that since I am abroad right now I don't have the NH shirt available!
