That's a freaky pocket. The antithesis of the pockets I want: small and well above the hemline. Forget the Grail Diary, you could put Indy's giant Bible in that pocket!
Since that was a publicity shot, perhaps done before filming began, could this be one of the infamous "Wilson's House of Suede and Leather" jackets that Deborah Nadoolman refused to use? Hmmm...
You can clearly see that shot was taken on the Idol Temple set just below where the giant hole is for the boulder. Lee, where have you seen this pic before? I've only seen it in the French Lucasfilm Mag.

I concur. You can tell by the cross-section Actually, you can tell by the hat brim. Look at left side and back of the brim (that'd be Indy's left) - it is turned up, just like on the hat he wears when he's snatching the idol.
I realize this post may look weird in the jacket section, but what can you do?
The jackets did vary, but this one is not as off as you think. The lens used for this photo makes things appear bigger the closer they are to camera. Look at Ford's head compared to his leg. The pocket is not as big as it first looks. Here is a close up of that photo:
In the wider shot it looks like it goes all the way to the bottom of the jacket, but we see on closer examination that this is not the case. The jackets do vary though. Here is another photo from that scene:
Same scene. Same side of the jacket......but different jacket. The one we have been talking about is almost on the storm flap seam and much lower, the one above is.......well, you can see.
MK, the scenes are not the same, and the same goes for the jacket. The first pic is from the set in London, the second one is from location shoot in Hawaii. Separated by weeks or even months.
I would have to question that. The wall in first photo doesn't look like any of the walls I see from the interier sets at Elstree. That kind of wall is time consuming to make too. I think it is the real deal in Hawaii. Also there is much more fullers on the jacket which also indicates Hawaii.
