Enough Already
WOW!!! Haven't we talked about Wested enough? Every thread is about Wested. Let's hear about the Todd's Custom, the G&B, or Wings. PLease, there are other jackets out there besides Wested. I've got three Westeds, but I want to know about the other jackets.
Many Thanks

And Amen to that! There is a really good search feature here that will present you with plenty of information about the other jackets. That being said, the reason people talk about Wested jacket more that the other are because (in no order): they have been around longer and more people have Wested than the other makers; for most people, Wested is their first jacket (that whole "original maker" thing); a jacket from Wested is still prone to some problems (requested features left out, communication problems, which version is more accurate, etc); the Wested jacket is able to be customized more that the other jackets (hides, lining, and other features); etc.binkmeisterRick wrote:Well, there's plenty about the other jackets, just use the search function and do some research. The information is there, but you have to go to it, it doesn't just come to you.
The other jackets won't be talked about much until those that have them start talking about it or those that want them start asking about them. I have three Wested jackets myself (Lambskin, Authentic Goat, Lambstouch Cowhide). If I were in the market for a new jacket (which if my gut keeps growing I might be), I might ask questions about other jackets. But, as a I said before, the answers can be found by doing a little search. If you have questions about another jacket (Todd's, FS, USW) just ask them. Someone with knowledge is bound to answer.
It speaks to the popularity of Wested (not to mention the occasional individual concerns) that this brand seems to dominate the discussions.
I've only got one Indy jacket and it's a Wested. Naturally, I am interested in other jackets as well and enjoy reading the discussions and viewing peoples pics when threads are presented.
Perhaps starting a thread inviting some recent updates and comparisons of Non-Wested jackets will yield some new results for you. "Enough Already"
may have been tongue-in-cheek, but will not necessarily get you what your looking for!
Maybe you could purchase some other makers Indy jackets and post your reviews! A great justification for more gear!

Good request. I've seen very little posted about the G&B jackets, Chaps hipster jackets, Flightjacket.com jackets, etc. It's always nice to have comparisons.
Here's the best COW link with quite a variety of jackets, you may have already reviewed it a lot:

Here's a little more, sorry no first hand owner pics:
Chaps
$129
(sold out)

(different front pockets)

And here's a couple cool jackets not quite Indiana Jones although the first one is close. These would be interesting hides for an Indiana Jones jacket steerhide and buffalo hide.
Aero Leather Co. in Steer hide:
£380
http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/weba ... prodid=768
And another cool jacket in Buffalo hide:
£375

I couldn't bring myself to get a Wested, didn't look the part to me, generally too dark, shoulder pads, thick leather, almost suit of armor biker look, funny drape, a tough, high quality product though. Moreover, they really do look better as they age. However, the ROTLA pretty much solves all those problems and it's less expensive as well. One thing Wested dominates with and that is customization. They cannot be beat for that and I don't think anyone can contest that fact.

No shoulder pads on the jacket I just received and the lambskin was so soft and light it felt like fleece. Too soft for me I'm afraid so I returned it. Maybe things have changed since you last saw a Wested.bigrex wrote:I couldn't bring myself to get a Wested, didn't look the part to me,
