If you where "The man in the Hat"?
Not sure if this has been a topic befor but thought it would be intresting to know how people would feel if they where in Ford's position and where idolized for being Indy now and forever.

I think it's easy to say "Yeah, I'd love to be thought of like that forever," and I'm sure for a while it would be great, but I have a feeling that would get old after a while. :junior: -M

Yes I'm sure there would be draw backs, just like you can find the negative in everything in life. But i think the benifit of being immortalized would be great. Though if every time you steped out of the house people would come up to you and hound you about it, it would get very old. But thats the prise you pay i guess.

I don't think it's really something he has to worry about. Sure he portrayed Han Solo and Indiana Jones but FAR above that he is recognized as simply Harrison Ford - a very bankable Hollywood icon.
As an actor and as a man, Harrison himself commands too much presence for someone to see him across the street and call out, 'Hey Indy' or Hey Han'. He has worn some of the most famous roles in modern popular culture, yet has been typecast by none of them - NOT EVEN INDIANA JONES.
The only corner he may have backed himself into would be the 'action hero' one, also occupied by the likes of Bruce Willis, Steve McQueen and perhaps Jason Statham (if he's not careful.)

I can honestly say that it's a nice feeling; anytime I walk into the hotel where my wife works (when I'm not in uniform) and I'm not wearing my Federation or AB, somebody ALWAYS says "Where's your hat?" Call me vain, but it's kinda cool to be known for something, even if it is just for something as simple as a hat.

I did a Jack Sparrow costume for Halloween last year, and I wore my costume around before and after Halloween. My friends tell me I got the voice and mannerisms down so perfectly it was creepy. I had some big Pirates fans tell me I was the best Jack Sparrow impersonator they'd seen. And even some that said that thought thought I was Johnny Depp!
Because of this, I am forever connected with the character of Jack Sparrow by my friends and people who saw me. Its a really cool feeling since he is one of my favorite movie characters.
Now I am working on my Indy outfit because he had always been such a icon for me. I could only hope to be forever connected with a character such as Indy.
I did have a Jedi braid for six years and people always said "hey Anakin" all the time. I never wanted to look like Anakin specifically. Many people called it a pig tail even though it was on the side and not the back! I just thought it would be cool to have a general jedi braid just to be different from everyone else in the world. I did a poll on the SW.com forum and I think I found around 15 or so people on there with one! I finally cut it off because it just got to the point that I didn't want that title.
What i'm saying is, I don't think you can go wrong with being connected with Indy!
Regards,
Josh K

If i might ask where did you wear this Jonny Dep custume. Only because I saw some one like you with all the manerizims and quarks that the reall one had it was scarry. But I feel the same way, one would counsider it an honor to be conncected and viewed as the Legindary Indiana Jones.swcrazyfan wrote:I did a Jack Sparrow costume for Halloween last year, and I wore my costume around before and after Halloween. Re: hat
So do I. For a time it might be kind of cool, but it would seriously start to bug me after a while. Being so well known. Being in the public eye. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't even want to wear his gear in public. I prefer to blend in and not be noticed.BendingOak wrote:Mulceber wrote:I think it's easy to say "Yeah, I'd love to be thought of like that forever," and I'm sure for a while it would be great, but I have a feeling that would get old after a while. :junior: -M
I agree.
So it probably depends on what kind of person you are. If you love to be the center of attention and are a people person, then I'm sure you'd like it a lot more than me.
