Thought I'd share some pics of my 8 YO Wested with all natural distressing, just from daily use.

I can't even remember what the screen accurate specs were back then apart from lambskin with satin lining and nickel zipper

. My, how times have changed!

I know it isn't the most screen accurate jacket out there but it's been my loyal companion for close to a decade. I'm not huge into gear like I used to be, I've sold my entire collection but this? This I'll be buried in.

How has the satin lining held out all these years?

The satin lining has held up pretty well. There's the sort of sweater effect "balling" in the areas which move (arm pits) mostly and there's a rip or two but nothing that would require any repair.

It took a few years to break in, but now she's like an old friend that just feels "right" when you put it on.

I totally bought into the "produced from the original pattern" thing and was then disappointed as the story evolved but I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never look exactly like Indy so my good enough jacket and I should have our own set of adventures.

My eldest daughter D.Jones owns one of the lambskins that is the same vintage as yours, though with the cotton lining, and hers has held up just as well. Looks about the same too!

Cool. I had a cotton lining one from 1998 and sold it to get this one.

What I love about it now is that as it softened, the collar is floppy and not stiff...I guess that happens with age.

Yup.

Little baby lambs were killed so that I have a jacket...too bad it didn't come with the meat. Mmm...baby lamb.

Well, that doesn't look very fragile. It doesn't look like you babied it, either. Eight years, huh? Is it possible that the lambskin they offered eight years ago is very different from the lambskin they offer today?

I find it interesting that the back panel doesn't meet at the sleeves like they do now. Looks kinda like the back of a US Wings.

Yep, the old 'bank balance' ploy. We all fall for it every now and again. My victims are usually items from my watch collection...
