Eyeglasses

Post by Hunter Jones »

I will very soon have to have my eyes checked (and a new prescription most likely) and I was wondering if anyone knew where I might purchase the Beaufort frames?

Thanks for the quick reply. From the website it looks like the Savile Row Panto Beaufort 14K are the ticket. I am correct in this?

Yes I believe that's the one I ordered. Make sure that you specify that the Chestnut Acetate with front half-covered cable temples.

the voice that pops up on framesdirect.com is sort of creepy. I need some new frames as well.

I took the page from Frames Direct to my eye doctor and they ordered them for me, so I had the benefit of a trained professional fitting them to my head. Be advised, though, that those glasses are big! I like the frames but the cable temples were just too huge for my head! I had to go with regular temples, which look a little different from Indy's but they're more functional for me. The optometrist was concerned that the glasses would be heavy because of the gold, but they're not...very comfortable. But I can't speak to the cable temples. I really wanted them but they are so long, they would've wrapped around my ears and stuck out the bottom! I don't know if you can trim them and the doctor said they were non-returnable so I didn't take the chance. You can get clip-on shades for them, too. 8)

You can also buy them direct from the makers, Algha Group. They are members here, you can shoot them a PM.

Thanks again for the information. I think I will see if my optometrist can order them for me first.

It's important to remember that even though the glass were supposed to look vintage, the movies were released in the 80's when large frames were the thing. If you've seen any other the pics of Ford's glasses in KS, they are smaller...

I'll keep that in mind, but I have a square head and round glasses suit me well.

So, is there a change in Indy's eye glasses for KotCS?

There sure is. You need to check out the photos in the Indy IV section.

They're small gold wire rims.

I think we were all hoping they'd be the same. But then again, at least he had the same glasses pretty much from 1935 thru 1938. How many of us still wear the same style of eyewear for over 20 years? Not many... so it makes sense. New eyewear. Now we'll have to figure the new ones out too...
