WESTED DENIM JACKET

Post by DOHERTYJAX »

I am new here to the club, but I have been an Indiana Jones fan since the first movie came out. I am now 34 years old. I had an Indy outfit that I put together, but nothing was authentic. I sold most of the stuf I had before last Halloween, and I have recently been starting over. I just purchased the Wested denim jacket, and it arrived yesterday. This jacket is way better than I expected it to be. The photos posted on the Wested site do not do it any justice. I recommended to them that they put up some different photos, because it looks so much better in person. The sleeves were a little long, but that is an easy fix. I will try to post some photos later. I am also considering a leather jacket in the near future. Not sure what to get yet. The price of the one at Todd's cant be beat, but there is something about Wested that draws me to it.

I also purchased the 8' 8 plait whip from Gus. He said he is a little behind, and he may not be able to get it out to me until the 20th of this month. I was going to order the Indy on a Budget fron Winrich, but he is not taking orders until June.

My hat is the biggest disappointment. I ordered a Federation from Hats Direct towars the end of last week. Apparently there has been an issue with their email, and I did not get contacted by them until yesterday. Unfortunately, the size I need will not be available for another four to six weeks. They offered me a refund, but I told them i will wait, cause I would only end up wasting the money on something else.

THE JACKET I BOUGHT IS A SIZE 48. IT IS A LITTLE SMALL AROUND THE BICEPS, AND A LITTLE LONG IN THE SLEEVE LENGTH. AS FAR AS THE HAT GOES, I AM A SIZE 59 ON THE HATS DIRECT CHART, 7 3/8 ON A US CHART.

Apparently I don't know what I am doing. Having problems posting the pics. I got it to work once on Stallonezone.com, but it's not cooperating now.

Welcome aboard, I don't think anyone can go wrong with the denim either. Its a great jacket and wears very well plus I think you'll like the Fed once it arrives. :D

AC, one of our COW members, has a great tutorial site for bashing your hat when you get it. Take a look at the link below. Good Luck.

WESTED DENIM JACKET

Post by rrhanselka »

I also have a Wested Denim Jacket and it is GREAT!!!! The color is a dark brown and it fits just right. I'm a 42R and it fit out of the box. I recommend it to everyone.

DOHERTYJAX:

Yours are about the third set of photos I've seen for the denim Raiders, and I'm having a hard time talking myself out of ordering one. Good looking jacket.

As for the Todd's, I have one, and I am very, very pleased with it. It is a light jacket, but it is very nice leather. Can't beat the price. I ordered it when I was having a "Wested dilemna" (I couldn't decide which one to get!), so I said to heck with it and ordered the Todd's to hold me over. I'm still planning to order a Wested soon, though (and probably a denim one, too!).

Oh, by the way, we're neighbors. I'm in Brunswick, GA.

I think I decided to buy the Todd's standard, but I am going to have to wait untill the XL's are back in stock. It is fine that it is a light jacket, because the weather here in Florida would not allow me to wear it too often.

WESTED DENIM JACKET

Post by rrhanselka »

I have a Todd's Standard in a Large. I love it. I've got jackets that cost 3 times as much, and I still love it. With a polo or T-shirt, it can't be beat. i love it so much I'm looking at a Todd's Custom.

Many thanks
Randoman

P.S. Did I mention that i love it.

I got an emeil from Todd yesterday, and he advised that he is expecting more jackets in my size pretty soon. Since I have seen nothing but good reviews about them, I will go ahead and pre-order one.

Michaelson, do you still have the cotton Wested that we bought all those years ago? Mine is still hanging together- only the lining has started to come part at the armpits.

oritz, Indy probably wouldn't have worn a leather jacket and a fur felt hat in the jungle, either, if Ford had his say! Have you ever worn a leather jacket in the summer? It can get pretty toasty! Some folks want a working jacket which is great for Spring or Summer wear, yet still has a certain Indy look to it. Some folks like a little variety in their wardrobe, too.

I have a U.S. Wings cotton Indy (no longer in production) which is a khaki color and leather collar, but still has a nice Indy flavor to it. It's a great jacket that wears and breathes well in warmer temps, especially when even a lightweight lamb Wested is still too warm too wear. The earlier Wested cotton Indy jackets had a corduroy collar, if I recall, and now they've upgraded them to the denim versions now available. I've toyed with the possiblilty of getting a denim Wested, myself.

It's not always about having a leather jacket in order to be in "Indy mode." I'd argue that if he were real, he'd love a lighter jacket like this for some of his warmer climate adventures. But that's not the point. It comes down to folks who want a comfortable jacket to wear when leather is too warm, while still being able to express their Indy side. And even if it's "not Indy," the denim Wested looks like a great all around jacket on its own. Is it for everyone? Maybe not, but it seems to be a great thing to many gearheads around here.

Very nice jacket. Thanks for sharing the pictures and alerting me to a need I didn't know I had. I think I'm off to investigate a light weight Spring/Fall jacket.
