my New- old DP FUR felt Indy

Post by Kokopelli »

I stumbled a across a New with tags attached Old (2003) DP 'official' fur felt Indiana Jones fedora for a good price. -I have to say, it is fabulous! The felt is very soft, has a 1 1/2" leather ventilated sweatband, full satin lining, nice ribbon, and the color is sweeet! -kind of a chestnutty brown with a dark dark almost charcoal ribbon. It isn't my size, as it is a 'Large' 7 1/4- 7 1/2 -ish, but I couldn't pass it up! I'll either sell it or try to find a retailer to trade me for a Medium. If anyone was on the fence about one of these like I was, get one and you won't be sorry!

I believe this is the same hat as the current $400 fur felt Dorfman sold at U. S. Wings. If so, it might be a decent hat.....

Regards! Michaelson

obviously the bash isn't right- nice ToD look, though. I was shocked at how soft the felt is on this thing; it could rebash easily, and the ventilated sweatband is nice too.

Did they clip the tags through the brim of the hat? I hate it when they do things like that.

yes- but right at the edge of the crown, under the ribbon, so you won't see it when removed, and only one of the plastic 'thingies' are holding both tags on.

My first Indy hat was a DP wool felt fedora. I loved that thing. Wear yours well!

I defended the fur felt DP the best I could in another post, so I'm glad to see someone else likes it! Ever since I got mine and rebashed it I've been incredibly happy. They're the best value on the Indy fedora market! (sorry if that sounded like a sales pitch)

Just curious, how much would you sell it for? Because I would love to have another one to tell you the truth.

This is the first time I hear this. I think most people here would agree with me, that the best value hat would be the Federation and Federation deluxe from Ron at Hatsdirect. Especially with the overhaul planned

I just ordered a new ribbon and some fullers from Todd's to rebash my DP. Figured it was a cheap way to get into the Indy spirit.. At least I'll have it for May. I might not ordering the Keppler I was/am planning on.

The color looks really good. Rough it up or wear it on a couple pack trips and you will like what it looks like. Very "Emperor's Tomb" if you ask me.

The "Emperor's Tomb" hat is actually modeled after the DP, if I'm not mistaken.
