Non slip holder

Post by JMObi »

Hope I don't get eggs thrown my way for bringing up a much discussed topic again, but wanted to ask what a good currently available non slip whip holder to get is. I would have to order from the USA. I mostly use a 10' Morgan style bullwhip. I'm not a performer or anything, I just crack whips for a hobby. Thanks.

I had in mind to try western stage props. Has anyone tried this one? I will PM Molaram, also. Just got to work out how to do it :)

I'd say for that price, have one made at a local leather shop. Won't be non slip, but theirs isn't either.

I got one from Molaram and couldn't be more pleased. You'll be happy with that one.

I made my own with leather and snaps/grommets from Hobby Lobby. I coated the inside with rubber cement to prevent it from slipping and I have not had a problem since. I did this about four years ago and it still works fine. Cheap, yet cost effective.

It's funny. I can face the thought of making roohide whips - I've made about 5 whips that weren't too bad several years ago, and plan to make some more - but the thought of making a cowhide whip holder with brass snaps or whatever seems difficult. I might leave this up to Molaram, and pay him to do it. I have sent him an email. Thanks for all suggestions.

I make a non-slip holder as well. Or you could order from Ben Scott who designed that type of holder in the first place

I've always made my own...Here's a pic of the configuration I use. Not screen accurate by a longshot (No, Fastex buckles were NOT around in the 30's), but a nice adjustable holder that's always served me well.

In the interest of fairness I thought I better give an update. Molaram sent me a nice email saying that he is able to supply one straight away - but I was in such a rush I had already agreed with Benjamin that he would make me one. Forgive my impatience. I typed in Ben Scott and found his site quickly so just went with that.

If you are looking for this style of non-slip holder all these makers, Molaram, Benjamin or Whiskyman could do it for you.

Nice to see someone ordering from Ben as it was his design that folks like me are copying.

That is classy... Ben was the first. Someday he will come back to making whips again. Shaking fist at Ben, do it!

Benjamin Scott whip holster received and test driven. Result: A+

I went for an extended walk. No whip slip! Whip easy to put on, and comes off the belt instantly when needed. Very comfortable and secure. I will be using this a lot from now on. Thanks Benjamin!
