1. Do not crack on sand, asphalt, or something like that surface.
2. Do not wet your whip. But if happened, dry it in room. Stay out from sources of heat or on sun. It will dry to much and to fast hide, and it can broke. After about 24 h, rub a bit of leather conditioner in whip. Not too much. If fall is dry as a bone, and it's behaving like piece of wood you can change it, or put it on while in can with water, put it out and rub conditioner in it. Better is change your fall, but if you haven't got any, you can make it in this way.
3. After every cracking rub conditioner in your fall. It's hardly working part of whip and you should take care of it.
4. From time to time, rub your whip gently with leather conditioner too.
5. Don't place your whip on sun, dry or wet places.
I think that's all. You can find few videos on you tube, about changing fall, or cracker. Write down "change fall" in search and you will find Bernie's videos about it .
Sorry for all my mistakes. My English isn't very well(I know, that is very popular sentence ) but i'm still learning.

Kiscien's advice is sound, I've also pretty much spelled out the dos and don'ts of whip care here.
