My "unintentional" Joe Strain KOTCS whip

Post by DJN »

Just some pics of my 9 ft I had made 4 or 5 years ago and it seems to be a nice hybrid whip for the new film. I was surprised to see how close the new movie whip looks to this one. I guess I chose, wisely. Thought I'd share.

DJN,

Nice lookin' whip ya got there! Just out of curiosity, were the knots originally darker than the rest of the whip, or did you do that in lieu of the new movie?

Highest Regards,

I had Joe make the knots darker back then - but I also made them even darker myself - aged them more than the rest of the whip, added some darker tones, etc. - but did that long before I saw the look of the new movie whips. Just a happy coincidence.

Please resize your pictures so they don’t exceed 640x480 pixels though.

While I love the Raiders DMs, I really like how these KOTCS style whips look too. Something about them, maybe the richer, antique colour, makes them look super heavy and indestructible. I think they're a good match for the older Harrison Ford.
