Fantastic Dubow A-2
Guys, check out this repro of a Dubow A-2. This grain on this horse hide is fantastic and the attention to original specs is unparalleled. It also sports a NOS crown zip. It's not mine, wish it were, but I hope to get a clone of this one in a month or so. Made by John Chapman, Good Wear leather Coat Company.
Here it is.
Some shots showing the grain.

Sergei, I don't think it's olive. John describes it as kind of a dirty linen color. You can see the rest of the photo's here, it shows some close ups.

Hmm.... I have seen Olive Drab turn that color. It does fade, but of course it could be khaki color.fedoralover wrote:Sergei, I don't think it's olive. John describes it as kind of a dirty linen color. You can see the rest of the photo's here, it shows some close ups.

It's true that sounds like a lot of money. But when one considers that John has taken apart originals and copied "EVERY" detail and reproduces them tailored for each individual client, it sounds more reasonable. John has just returned from a trip to Chicago where he sourced the fantastic horsehide you see above. He offers more choices in original A-2 contracts and in more leathers than any other vendor. I don't hesitate to say that currently he offers the best A-2 repro's on the market today.

Goodwear jackets are masterpieces. Chapman has done for A-2 enthusiasts what the AB team have done for the fedora.
I purchased an Eastman Leather Co. A-2 before John Chapman had his Goodwear company off the ground. It's a great jacket, but my next A-2 will be the Goodwear Dubow.
Here are some comparison pics of my Roughwear A-2 from ELC and my Wested RotLA for anyone interested.
