Distressing an 8 year old wested question?

Post by Solo »

So for the past 8 years I have wanted to nautrally distress my Raiders Jacket. It has some signs of wear but nothing really noticeable! I really haven't worn it enough. I did a few searches and noticed that Pecards is mentioned for distressing! I have a few containers on Pecard Dressing that I use and that came with my David Morgan whips! Is this the same stuff I should use on my jacket or should I use another kind of pecards such as the cream. I have gone on the Pecards website and I'm not sure which one will work on my lambskin jacket! Any help would be appreciated!

man.. ive always been under the assuption that pecards is something you add for protection rather than destressing, for a subtle destressing you could drench it in water or rub acetone into it, rather than sand papering it will leave and alround wearyness to the jacket. pecards would only darken and hide any destressing... I BELIEVE

That's right. Pecards is a precautionary measure, not a destructive one. If you're going to distress your jacket, Solo, keep the Pecards around to help correct an area you feel like you have done too much distressing to.

Remember, less is more when it comes to distressing. Acetone can NEVER be undone. Once you do it, it's done, and that's the end of that story. Sandpaper will not necessarily leave the jacket "weary," but you do have the risk of sanding a hole into the jacket if you sand too hard with a grit of paper that is too coarse. I would use a low grit sandpaper and go easy on it. Again, less is more. If you feel like you've done too much with sandpaper, brown Pecards will help immensely in making the area look less distressed. If you go too far with acetone, Pecards won't do anything for you.

Water won't do much but take the shine away from a new jacket, and since the one in question is an 8 year old jacket, water won't do a whole heck of a lot.

Oh well, take it for what it is. :) That's my advice from experience.
