I want to tweak my Rabbit

Post by Indiana Croft »

Topic may sound weird, but true.
I bought one of the last AB rabbits last year, Steve did an awsome job of nailing the truck scene (where Indys hanging from the hood), and I just want to tweak the right side up just a bit more.

Do I get it lightly wet and shape it and then let it dry or is there a better way.
I know I don't want to get it saturated w/ H2O, don't want no taper.

So what do the expert say.
Thanks in advance, Croft

I'm not an expert by any means, but for me, just leaving the hat alone for a number of days after shaping it the way you want it usually allows the felt to set into the new shape. If that doesn't work, then the next thing to try would be the spot-wetting you mentioned. Steaming the hat works too, but is risky and could taper or shrink your crown.

I always recommend using cool water that you trust. Like distilled or something like that. You don't have to soak it, but don't be afraid to wet it. Steam is more likely to taper rabbit fur (in my experience) than water. Anyhow, get it wet enough that the water gets in the felt some, shape by hand and let it sit a few days like easybox suggested.

I used tap water in a spray bottle to tweak the center dent and pinch of my rabbit AB. I sprayed enough to get it damp, and pushed things in with my hands and let it dry. Came out fine.

Am I the only one who thinks the title of this thread sounds kinda wrong? :?

Like the others said, I think localized application of water is your best bet. Good luck. :junior: -M

Yeah... I'm pretty sure that's illegal in at least 30 states.

Thanks guys for the tweaking tips  , I'll try the spray bottle method.
It'll be awhile as I haven't a spray bottle to use, but I have them at work. I think.

As far as the title goes, hey I just wanted get the attention of those in the know. And I'm glad I'm not in one of those 30 states.

A little off-topic, but since this has turned into a humorous thread...

A real man named Elmer Fudd got so tired of answering crank calls that he finally decided to turn the tables on his young tormentors. He began answering his phone with "Hewwo?" or, "Is dat you, you cwazy wabbit?", which he said was always answered with stunned silence instead of the usual quips.
