My Version of the KOTCS whip w/pics

Post by midwestwhips »

After studying all of the shots of the whip very very closely, and noticing that some of the knots were more square than others that were more rounded and oval, and on some of the whips the knot colors were much darker while on others they weren't. After looking closely at all of those subtle differences between the whips in each shot, I decided to make this one a mixture of them all. Well, here it is:

And here is a shot of the whip before it was shellacked:

What do you guys think?

thats a good looking whip Paul. the only thing that i'm not crazy about is it seems like the turks head knot is kind of squared looking, but thats just me. i do love this color for the new whips.

Hi Rebelgtp,

I'm with you. I actually like it a bit less squared, but this particular whip was requested to be more squared. In the screen shots we've seen so far of the Indy whip, some of the knots are really squared, some are completely the opposite, and a couple are sort of in the middle. It will be interesting to see which knot shape shows up most often when the film is released.

OK, you need to stop now. You guys are killing me with all of these beautiful whips with me just selling my baby  . Very nice work Paul. When I manage to get back on my feet I WILL be ordering the same in a 10'er.

Hey Ripper,

I'm sorry to hear that you had to let it go. But no worries, I can make you another one any time you want, :)

Hollywood,

Unfortunately, I only had a few minutes to give it a few test cracks so I could make it to the post office in time, but it rolls out beautifully, and has a great weight to it. I just wish I hadn't been rushed. I made it to the post office within minutes of being too late. I did take a short video of a couple of cracks to email to the customer. I'll see if I can get it uploaded to youtube.

Having you make on wont be the issue...Paying for it will be.
You will be notified just as soon as I can scrape it all together. Just have to find a hammer to break open the pig...

I like it, even the square knot doesn't bother me, seems to go with the rest of the whip. I guess I'm new enough to whips that one style doesn't really take preference over another with me ( I like them all). Great looking whip!

Very nice. I like the squarer knots too. I'm seeing them as integral to the new-look Indy whips. Gives them a kind of chunky, Lego feel.

Good Stuff Paul - Looks like the Area 51 Warehouse Chase Whip.

-oh man, did I already name a scene from a movie that's not out yet:

the "A51C" version of the whip/hat/jacket :x  :P
