need some info on a authentic goat

Hi...
I just need to get some info on the authentic goat jacket...cause I need 1 more jacket for the winters since I destroyed my other standard wested sz44

anyone have a goat jacket?
and what do you think of it?is it squeeky?how is the color shade?is it durable?

I do not own a Wested goat skin but we used the goat on Templars. I have to say I love the Wested goat. It's a wonderful hide, great color and distresses very well. I do own two FS goatskin jackets and I have to say if you want a real adventure jacket, goat is the way to go. It's heavy and tough as nails.

so you say it distresses easy.......then I have another question...

this concerns every jacket,goat-lamb whatever...I am afraid that the color of the jacket will faide and make them really light in color over the years to come...

do you know what I mean?

does anybody who has had the jacket over 10-15 years ever had that problem with that?

Goat can hard to distress, it all depends on the hide and coloring process. I have not owned a jacket for 10 years but I can say this. Fading I am not sure about but natural distressing will accure as I'm sure you know already.

My Goat is very thick and quite heavy but soft and pliable. Can't really wear it on a warm day. It's a great leather and has worn in a bit over 6 years. I want real life to be the cause of distressing - no sandpaper, etc for me.

I have an authentic goat skin Wested- I've had it for about three years...

It's obviously a very durable hide- mine hasn't weathered at all, the colour has stayed dark and not changed- that's with a fair amount of exposure to the Australian sun which tends to be harsher than most other places.

It does tend to squeak a little... and for some reason, mine still smells brand new.

The only thing that has bothered me about it is the drape of the jacket. In comparison to thin Lambskin it just can't compare. The goat is thick and heavy and won't look very Raiders, but it's tough jacket that you could take anywhere.

does anybody who has had the jacket over 10-15 years ever had that problem with that?

I could be wrong, but I don't think Wested have been offering a goat skin jacket for that long.

ohh....I know sebas has had his wested almost 10 years now.and so has Kt templar...so...

maby wested has not offered their jacket's in 15 years but for shure 10...I think..

so..neolithic have you a regular wested authentic?

Yes, the older goat was thick heavy and had a sort of slightly rubbery consistency sometimes.

The new stuff is pretty thin and light, *almost* like a thick lambskin, but still feels tough all the same. I like the look of it.

(Hopefully this pic is within the rules this time)

Don't judge the colour too much, my camera does all sorts of strange things. Yes I know, the jacket is too big!!

ok.so the new goat has more drape on it?does it have more weight on it?

have you ever had the iacket fade over time.?has it become lighter in color?

Yes, it drapes softer than the older variety.

great info on this goat.

how is the coloring on it.michaelson says it has a lighter shade on the authentic brown.

does the new goat feel heavy to wear?I know my rotla jacket feels like I am wearing a shirt.

Lamb and goat authentic are very similar in color in my opinion. You could hardly tell them apart except you might notice one is goat and one is lamb, if you know what I mean. Shade wise, they are the same, at least that's what I've seen when comparing.

No squeeking here, at least mine is still is dead.

thanks my fellow skandinavian...

I had my ROTLA lamb given one warm shower and let dry.just to get little of the shine of it..but when it dryed it had that amazingly bothering squeaking sound in it every time I moved.hopefully it will go away after a little wear

Oh, I'd 'oil up' the hinges with some leather dressing.
It might be that the leather fibres are a bit dried up causing that sound when they rub together. I've never noticed that sound myself, but I'd go ahead and try som lotion to see if that gets rid of it.

Oh, the meed... It was gonna be a surprise from one northern guy to another.
