Hat Lining?

Post by darthjones »

Hey, Gang -

Noticed something in the HD version of the trailer and maybe it has already been covered - ???

When Indy's hat is lying on the ground outside that car (one of the 1st shots from the new film) it LOOKS like there is some coloration in the lining.

Since Marc and Steve may be contracted not to divulge what it is, can anyone else see what I'm talking about?

Anyone grab a still from it?

Steve addresses the upturned hat in the thread about Baron's and says that it is NOT an AB sweat band.

Hmmm.

But still - what does the lining say?

Maybe we'll get lucky and that shot was filmed specifically for the trailer, and we won't have to actually see a DP in the film? Maybe? We can hope. ;) Doesn't make sense that it'd be laying on the ground already as they're pulling him out of the trunk. And as Ford said... the hat doesn't come off unless there's a reason.

Got it! A close up of the lining says

"Folks at Lucasfilm licensing can at times be inattentive to character nuance and design in their high end product lines."

Wow!

Either that or it is an optical illusion and those seeming colors are just lines created by the white lining as it gathers into the exterior bashing.

One or the other.

I think Steve mentioned a couple of threads ago that Harrison's costumer had sprayed the liners with a light color tint turning the liners a diffrent color than the white that was sent.

That makes some sense I guess - maybe to dull down the glaring new white for some of the shots?

Hmm.

Just curious is all.

Just posted this is the other thread, but it applies here too.

Image

I noticed it too. It could be a trick of the lighting, but it does look like a cream colored liner - not true white.

Opps sorry guys (and Marc  ), it was Marc. Here's the quote from the Ab new logo thread...
Marc wrote:Since the cat is outta the bag, so to say: YES. We used white liners, made of bridal satin, with the seam in side! Bernie then used some hair tint dye ( ) to make them off white in order to make the camera could catch it easier 8)

So, Steve, I think we can finally start discussing colors for the logo with Kim :D

Marc
