fedora size questions? please help

Post by joeyofarimathea »

should the fedora fit like a baseball cap...you know kind of snug? where you actually have to pull it down onto your head when you put it on?

how tight should it be?

thanks for reading,

Matter of opinion, I suppose. I'd have to say yes, it should fit like a fitted baseball cap.

I would say a properly fitted fedora should fit snugly on your head, but it shouldn't squeeze it. Properly fitted, you should scarcely notice that it's there.

Personally, I like mine a tad looser than a tight baseball cap, but still snug enough so it won't be gone with the wind. I just hate pulling off my hat to find that I have Pee-Wee hat hair!

If you're measuring using tape (as opposed to a conformer), the best advice I can think of is not to leave any gaps. Pull it to a comfy fit, not so tight that you get wrinkles, then rinse, repeat a couple times, and average that number.

Or you can do what I did. Find yourself a good hatter and go try on a few. They will certainly help you find the right size for your noggin. Personally I like mine a little looser than a b-ball cap but not loose enough that you have to staple it on your head for it to stay on.
