First time

Post by brady »

I just tried out my new whip for the first time. Bernie sent me the whip last week but it has been paitently waiting for me to make time for it. Well today my roommates and I took it to the old hockey arena on campus (nice turf floors). It took me a few minutes to get the hang of it but once i did ***CRACK***. It was pretty loud in the old empty arena. Your arm starts to take a beating after a while. Its pretty sore right now, its like going out and playing catch after you haven't for a long while. I have a feeling this is going to be pretty addictive. After I get a little better I'll shoot some video and post it on my website for you all to see and give me pointers. I figure that way if I'm doing something wrong you can point it out since I don't have any WE members close to home. Well time to get back to doing my stupid work. One more month and I'll be done with this #### college and will be an employed (hopefully) junior Civil Engineer.

Yeah so I just went out again. Its cold out but I don't care. Crack it a few times and then whack right on the chin, I'm not kidding. Man that stung. No permanent damage or cuts for that matter. Anyways, the cracker seems like it is dying already, it looks like nylon string. Does anyone have any insight to how long these puppies last. They are the black ones Bernie sends along with his whips. I didn't think it would wear out that fast. Well back to my studies. I'm definatly going to be cracking again tomorrow.

I just started cracking my new 8 footer from ECWhips today as well. On about the 20th crack, the cracker flew off, but I quickly replaced it. I would imagine I'm being excessively hard on it right now, as I have almost no idea what I'm doing (don't worry, I'm wearing protective equipment)
I'm going by Mark Allen's Whipcracking made easy tape right now. So far, I can do the horizontal crack, and the stockman's crack.

Yeah I have quite a bit of armor on myself. Leather jacket, thick pants, eye protection, ear plugs, hardhat for new crack attempts, and gloves for when my palm gets sore. Its a ton of fun though I'm finding out.

Get the Alex Green video. It's the best way to start cracking. I rarely have the whip come back at me thanks to the safety tips they show on the tape.

Yeah, that's the tape I have. Mark Allen is the host, and Alex Green demonstrates all the cracks. I haven't hit myself yet, and hopefully I won't in the future.

If you do hit yourself, aim for the chin. :D Fedora

Yeah, that is what I recommend for starters. From there that are a boatload of other tutorials, but the Alex Green tapes were meant to get you started the quickest and safest way to crack a whip.

It was a clean shot, although I think it hurt more because of the cold rather than because of how hard I actually hit myself. It just welted up a tiny bit should be fine by morning.

I did put Pecards on my whip when I first got it and did the whole let it dry for 2 days routine. I did notice a dramatic decrease in the stiffness of the whip since I've gotten it especially after using it today. I was quite suprised in this, I thought it would take longer to work in to where it is, even though I know too it still has a way to go before I'd consider it broken in. Well from what I've read there's only one way to do it so I'll be back out tomorrow swinging her til my arm is sore.
