KotCS IOAB

Post by hollywood1340 »

Just arrived today.

This is I believe the first KotCS IOAB made. It's snowing out so only cracked it for a few minutes but what I've heard about the IOAB runs true. It cracks easily and readily and the balance is just right. It's a joy to watch it roll out and crack Adam, very nice work. Look for youtube clips this spring!

People like me shoudn't be given access to both Photoshop and the Internet at the same time.

Breaking in a new whip is like I'd imagine breaking in a new horse is. I've rewatched my Delongis material, and secured an indoor space big enough to use my whip. Wow...I'm outta practice! Sure I could make it go bang but not everytime I wanted to, nor where I wanted it to. A rather stiff new whip and a slick surface doesn't help much either! But I started at my basics, the railroad tracks and the motion. Worked my way up to standing, made sure I was looking at the whip, talking to it's whole length. And things got much better. By the end of the hour I coulc crack it when and where I wanted to.
My initial drill was the five angles of attack toward a bag
-Right Shoulder to Hip (Modifed forward)
-Right Shoulder to Hip (Overhead)
-Across Midsection Right to Left (Sidearm
-Across Midsection Left to Right (Reverse Sidearm)
-Groin/Straight In (Foward Towel Snap)
I must have looked a bit silly, calling out numbers 1-5, very much like Sir Anthony in Zorro, but it worked. By forcing a strict regime of cracks, it caused me to focus on what I was doing. I aslo pu the whip up an did it empty hand on the bag, both sides, to get a feel for the strikes I was emulating.
Finished with some wrap work both horizontal and vertical, and more movement.
And all this in an hour. The whip break in nicely!
