Distressed horsehide photos/experience... anyone?

Post by IndyK »

I'm leaning more and more towards Wested's horsehide as for durability. But has anyone in here photos of a distressed horsehide?

( and yes, I know most hh owners prefer natural distressing, and the hh is too strong for having naturally distressed hh jackets yet, etc. etc.... :D )

Cheers

Does it need to be an Indy jacket?

Ehhh... Well no, but the idea was to show what Westeds current horsehide looked like when distressed. Do they make other jackets in hh and do You have one?

You're right _, I know it doesn't come distressed out of the back. My experience with the lamb is all I need for Raiders SA, so what I'm after now is the look of the new jacket from Tony.
We know it's cowhide, and we know it will probably come up for sale after may 22.nd, but we dont know the price - yet - and especially we europeans may get a hard time raising money for that jacket - not to forget the VAT, customs, taxes, shipping etc. we will have to pay.

I really like the idea that Indy's jacket should both BE durable and LOOK durable this time. At least thats how I understood Bernies thoughts from what I've read.
And it seems that the perfect jacket for that purpose is either a horse or a cow. I have seen some beautiful photos of RockBottoms "novapella" which I understand is the current pre-distressed cowhide, but I was amazed when I saw it described as only slightly lighter (weight) than the lamb, and not as solid/durable as goat.
Now, the goat did not give the look I was looking for when distressed, so all in all I'm back to square one... I think I will order either a hh or a novapella, but only if a light distressing can make it look like the KOTCS-jacket.

PS: _, didn't You get my PM?

My one, which you've seen, has been through a washing machine on the hot cycle already. Just gave the collar and pocket flaps some minor wrinkles.

Still no PM _?

KT, that makes it seem very indestructable! I'm really with a leg in both camps on this one - HH or novapella... Hmmm - the one looks durable and the other one IS durable.. :-k

I've had my Wested HH for almost 4 years, and it hasn't really distressed much at all. Some of the seams have wear and it has developed a nice grain in many areas with the wrinkles we all love on the sleeves, but its held up quite well. It is VERY durable.

Wested doesn't advertise any other jackets in HH and they don't have any other types of HH (that I have seen or heard of). They will pretty much make anything out of whatever if you asked them to.
