Orvis cavalry twill pants in officers' pink on sale

Post by Chevalier Krak »

Down to $124 from $198. These have been described in other threads as very close to the originals. I have never seen them.

In my opinion these are close to officer pinks you are going to get, in drape, weight, wool, diagonal weave twill, Orvis quality. At $124 that is typical for officer pinks repros. But for SA they are missing the pleats - caveat emptor. The MSRP price is steep, at $124 they are realistically priced.

I don't know about this particular item but I am a huge Orvis fan and have bought tons of stuff from them over the years. Recently, though, I've stopped as they've begun making more and more of their stuff in China.

Problem is, it's getting harder and harder to find items that AREN'T made overseas lately. :?

Well, there's overseas and there's overseas. I'm OK with my Wested! But, this is one reason I'm a big fan of Bill's Khakis--made in Pennsylvania.

Amen! I've owned one pair of Bill's in the past, and they're built to take it.

Unfortunately, they shrank when mistakenly tossed in a hot dryer (yep, I had KP that day  ), and I've never been able to reverse the shrinkage. :(

Sierra Trading Post has a fair selection for $60.

I've faced an even bigger problem, though--over the past couple of year, every single pair of pants I own seems to have shrunk. My dryer must really be out of control.

I was looking over my selection of screen grabs recently and didn;t find any that showed the pleats in the pants. Does anyone have a good shot from the movies showing the pleats?

The pleats have never been in dispute. From Noel Howard the maker of the pants to screen grabs... All three films showed pleats.

Oh, I see - the pleats at the belt line next to the pockets! It's just when I
went to the Wested site, I saw that the pants had a very distinct pleat or
crease line running all the way to the cuff. That is the detail I haven't been able to find.
