As a newbie, I am looking for some of those "how to do an Indy bash" tutorials, but on the Fedora FAQ sticky and elsewhere on the Web (for example, the links in the FAQ for how to see the different Indy hat shapes and places on the Web to see how to achieve those bashes), the sites are either down or the pics aren't there. In fact, a lot of the pics are not viewable in many postings. Can someone point me to a working tutorial on bashing and also someplace that discusses some of the distinctives between say the Idol Grab bash, the Raven Bar bash, the Well of Souls, etc.? Thanks.
Welcome, JJT! Unfortunately, the chap who let us use those pics no longer has the links working, so we cannot reload those images. However, if you look around the fedora section, you'll come across several other resources.
Read the kettle-bash method. It doesn't make use of steam. But regardless, I don't think there really is a way to rebash wool. That's why it's advisable to go for fur. :junior: -IJ
fatwoul, it may feel a bit intimidating to bash a brand new, open crowned hat if you've never done so before, but don't be afraid of it. After a couple minutes you'll start getting a feel for it. Besides, the Akubra will take a LOT worse than someone bashing it into shape.
OB1al - This page seems to be defunct? At least, it won't load. I just got my first fedora, a vintage Stetson, and I'm trying for the Raiders creasing.
I archived Pagey's tutorial HERE - scroll down a bit for the tutorial and pics.
I took down all my hat pics long ago when I was accused of faking them.
I've since disassociated myself from that old tutorial. I have got one hat, an AB, and it's not styled as a Raiders hat. I use it as my Doctor Who hat.
I'd like to see a picture of that. I've been knitting a 4th Doctor scarf for the past month or so and hope to have it done in time to wear this winter.
