My replacement Wested-with pics!

Post by Nebraska Brad »

Hello fellow Indy geeks!

I received my replacement Wested last week. Shipped on Jan 3rd and in my hands on Jan 7th. That is a pretty incredible transit time from England to Nebraska!

The original jacket was returned because there was an error with the straps that made a long fold across the back at the bottom. The collar was also all wrong. It was huge and pointy!

The new jacket is really nice and the fit is much better. I ordered the replacement to follow Agent 5's specs and some of them were not followed. For more info check out my post "Wested custom becoming less custom?". What is odd is that the original jacket was a puffier somewhat heavier leather so I was really surprised to find that the replacement was much closer to my Todd's standard.

Please give me your opinions on style and fit oh wise sages as I want to improve next time. Maybe HH......:-k

What exact specs did they leave out? (besides the inner pocket facings)

Just a few things here and there.

The pockets are a tad narrow and too tall (8" x 6" vs 7.5" x 6.25"). The left collar does not meet midway on the storm flap but is flush with the zipper. The zipper pull appears to be too high and ends 1" above the bottom of the jacket.

I realize that I am being really picky but hey, you know how obsessive people like us can get. The only thing that really bothers me is the inside pocket facing. All in all I love it but I am a bad judge on how clothes look on me.

Nebraska, the jacket looks great on you. One of the better fitting jackets i've seen on here - not too big, not too small, just right. I wouldnt worry about the minor details - it's the overall impression that's important.

Nebraska, nice jacket. I can tell the pockets are a bit more narrow and taller in front pic, but they are not that bad. I think if the length were more closer to 7.5 like they only missed by 1/4 of an inch it would not be very noticeable. 1/2 an off inch is much more easier to tell  I'm kidding, Dre is right, it is about how the jacket looks on you, which it looks great. I guess I am not so worried about my jacket. Well I am a little since I have not received it yet, I guess I have to tell myself patience, patience. Wear that jacket well Nebraska.

Hey Nebraska, I think it looks excellent on you. I do think that Wested in particular tends to make the front length too short. In your first picture I think that the body length would look more accurate if it was closer to the sleeve length...but that could partially be caused by the angle of that picture. I say partially because I've noticed it on other Westeds too. It doesn't seem short in the body though in the side-view picture. I love the way Wested raises the straps up on the side of the body, my Wings jacket's straps sits way too low - yours looks great. Also (sometimes) Wested will round the corners of the pockets like on yours, and that is a big plus in my book - something about that looks more Raiders, early Indy  . All in all I like it alot and Dre is absolutely right when he say's it's the overall impression that counts - we often get way too caught up in the details and forget this.

Thanks for the input guys!

I love this jacket more everyday iand I have been wearing it nonstop since i got it. Not an easy thing to do given our subzero temps right now. I guess I just need to order another one in a different hide :D . I will have a difficult choice to make when the samples Gemma sends me arrive. HH? Cow? Predistressed cow?

Isn't it funny how a piece of clothing can make you feel so cool? I guess realizing a childhood dream can do that.

Very much so, Nebraska. When I got mine I got so excitied like a kid - it really is a childhood dream come true to get an indy jacket. When I picked mine up fromn the post office I didnt wait to get it home and try it on. I opened it up at the bus stop and put it on. Got my ipod, put my headphones in, and played the raiders march loudly and proudly.
