Indy's gunbelt - new and old

Post by RichardSK »

Hadn't noticed before, but in an old photo that I think is LC, his whip holder is not attached to the gunbelt so that the web belt can be fed through to keep it higher on the hip.

The second point is does he wear his gunbelt backward in the new movie?

One last comment without sounding negative, why does HF look like us wearing a costume rather than he did in past movies where his outfit looked his clothes?

Oh I disagree. I think most of his gear looks well-lived-in...it's just the shirt and pants which I think look too clean. Everything else looks fine. :junior: -IJ

I guess that picture is a so called "promo shot", not just a grab of a real action scene. That means Ford is kind of "posing" there. That might cause your impression, Richard.

But I do really see "Indiana Jones" there and not just Ford wearing a costume. At least for me it works.

I think the new Gear looks great. Okay, some differences to the previous movies, but it looks like Indy to me.

Assuming that this scene is not set in the USA, he seems to BE a tourist. :D

Perhaps he's not as tanned as we're used to?

Wow! Very cool. Never noticed that before. When I wear my gear, I feed the gunbelt through a belt loop on the whip side, so it hangs properly (my whip is far heavier than my $2 cap gun). I may have to try the whip holder trick.

I have never noticed that before either  Where can you get a whip holder like that? I guess that explains why my webbed belt, feels a little loose sometimes. I got a gunbelt from Noel Howard, decent gunbelt, but the whip holder is just ok. I like the new belt, just looks like he has the belts backwards pretty much. I wonder if anyone makes a belt like that or if they just decided to put it on backwards for the new film.

He is wearing a costume... the same one we all wear/own and cherish... seeing present-day Ford in "Indygear" could cause a slight cognitive dissonance...

Hello folks,
can one of you confirm that the bag strap in the posted photo, from the new film, is actually black, apposed to the dark brown.
This also seems to be the case in LC.
Is it just my eyes? :?
Cheers all, JTW.

If the first image (with Ford sitting on a director's chair) that came out is anything to go by, then the strap is most definetly brown. Dark brown, maybe, but brown nevertheless.

Thank you sir,
I understand there are many different shades and textures to this strap throughout the trilogy. :D

I wonder why Indy wears his gunbelt reversed? The buckle is pointing to his left...

Ask Bernie Pollack (I know I mistyped his name)
