Next up.. the new hotness Akubra Federation Reg. A real nice hat IMHO.
I think my bash needs a little help, but what can I say? IT was my first.

Looks great! Don't do a thing to it - that way you make it your own.

I recommend sitting on the hat for a few seconds. I'm serious. I did that with my Adventurebilt the day I received it almost three years ago because I was told to by someone I hold in high regard for hats. It immediately took on a more Raiders look.

Granted, I can't vouch for how an Akubra will react when sat on and popped back into place, but I owned a Regular Fed for some years and it softened up to a point that made everyone around here take notice because I could literally wear it in the front as a Raiders bash and then simply grab it on the rear crown hard and put it on backwards and it was a Temple/Crusade on the other side because it had become so soft I could finger bash the Crusade pinch and it would hold!

Hey Sergei and Michaelson - you guys remember that? I showed a demonstration of this Federation phenomenon on the Queen Mary in 2003.

Man...I don't know that I have that kind of courage...yet. How long did you sit on it?

I sat on my AB for around three to five minutes a day for two weeks - Didn't seem to hurt it at all - Only made it look cooler.

Great story French.

as for rjallen, your bash looks pretty good. My only advice would be to give the sides of the brim a bit more curl (not a lot more, just a little) to make it look better. :junior: -IJ

Yes, I do, and I about had a heart attack when you did it, as I recall. :-k

Looks great! Best thing to make it 'yours' is to wear it, and wear it regularily. You'll find a really good hat takes on the personality of it's owner without having to do a whole lot of gymnastics to it beforehand. That's been my personal experience, but as you've read, others may vary!

Welcome aboard, by the way!!

HIGH regards! Michaelson

thanks for posting these new pics. I like the way it looks from the side. The brim does need a little bitt more curl but the top crease ( center dent is a tad to wide. I think this will take away the little bit of tapper and give it better look.

Welcome aboard!

You have great arch along the top. You may try raising the crease in the back a little higher, it may remove some side taper near the top. You'll have a shallower center dent, but straighter sides.
