Another quest is over: my last whip

Post by Marc »

Hi y'all,

thought I'd share a picture of the whip of my dream with you:

Image

It's a Raiders of course, 10' and though I must admit that after getting my last 10' from Pagey I though I'd be done with purchasing whips, this is just the icing on the cake. No pun towards Pagey, as everyone knows how much I love his whips.

Anyway hope you like it as much as I do (unfortunately the bad weather doesn't allow me to go out and crack it :().

Out of curiousity, I'd be interested to see if you're able to name the maker, just by looking at the picture (except for the few people who know who made it of course ;)).

Regards,

Marc

That's a really nice whip. It does look like a Bernardo in some ways but otherwise im not 100% positive. Maybe its because its not the typical pics we see of his whips which is the whip against a white background.

That's not one of mines guys...

Knowing how much Marc loves Pagey's whips, I think it's another Pagey :-) .Also, the thin squares on the handle and the shape of the turk's head look like a Pagey. Overall, looks like a great whip.

Marc, congrats! I remember when you told me you weren't really into whips, and that it was unlikely that you purchased another whip, so this is surely a nice change!

Nice looking whip! Could we have some close-ups? I can't quite tell from this pic, but the strands don't seem to be cut quite like Bernardo or Paul Nolan would cut them for the way their plaiting sets in. The taper looks really nice though - it definitely looks professional, and like it will crack well. I wish I knew more whipmakers' work better to be able to make a better guess. Would it be cheating to ask for some pics of the handle/knot and fall hitch?

Thanks a lot Bernado! It was one of the few week moments of pure emotion that made me "had to have it"

Yes, it's a Pagey. Nick made one using heavy roohides that he purchased from David Morgan and put it up for sale. It had the long Raiders handle and all the other features that makes a Raiders whip so special. I had the "click - put brain asside and buy" moment and sent a pm to Nick immediately, but only to hear that I was too late  So I've been bugging the excrementum out of him, in order to make another one "just like this" and using the same hides and he aggreed.

So, even though the purchase wasn't planned or well thought of, I CERTAINLY enjoy that I did it.

Marc

 Not at all G. I can spend my money on whatever I want :)

Of course my wife can spend her money on whatever she likes as well, without me making problems (lingerie, make up, high heels, short skirts  ).

Lately! - It's "lately". You cannot translate "in letzter Zeit" with "the last time" :-({|=

Ok, off my soap box.

Thanks for the compliments,
