Shoelaces?

Post by Plynck »

Has anyone found a place (preferably on-line) where one can find decent shoelaces? Not just for Aldens, but for any somewhat casual shoe.

Seems that many or most men's shoes (such as Bass or Dexter) now come with very nice laces. Once they break, good luck finding replacements. Even at the counter, they only sell the typical selection: Braided brown strings for casual shoes, Waxed black strings for dress shoes, white laces for sneakers, or laces for hiking boots.

After I break a lace, I find myself knotting it because it still looks better than the only replacements that I can find. It's either that or throw the shoe out :(

Best to all,

I've been able to order them through my local shoe repair shop. Find one in your area and tell them exactly what you're looking for. Chances are, they can look them up in a catalog and order exactly the type you want. Regards. Michaelson

I have had this problem. Contact these people and order them.

The Alden Shop
201 Kearny Street
San Francisco, CA 94108
Phone: (800) 273-7463

It's toll free and they offered to send 1 pair free!! Make sure you get the longer laces and tell them its for the Indy Boot.

Just to poke my nose in one more time....if your boots are the older pair, ask for the 45 inch versions. The new boots take around 54 inches or so, so make sure of your boot first before asking for the longer ones. They'll be TO long if your boots are not the current offering. Regards. Michaelson

Michaelson,

You're rigfht about the boot laces. I just got a pair of the new Aldens which came with 45-inch laces, and they weren't long enough. So I went to the shoe repair place and got 54-inch screen-accurate laces and they're fine.

What's different about the old versus the new boots that the laces are so different? :?:
