MK VI

Post by auntsugar »

Hey everyone,
I just snagged what appears to be a MK VI bag for the grand price of $25.
Anyone know anything about this particular bag???

Great snag, Aunt Sugar. The MKVI is a great bag. I have two in my collection. The MKVI is almost identical to the MKVII with the exception of the 2 small D-rings on the front of the bag. And in addition the MKVI has 2 additional vertical pockets in the back. In my opinion this makes it a little more versatile than the MKVII. As far as authenticity to Indiana Jones, the MKVI made a couple of appearance in the TOD. Most distinctly in the rope bridge scene where the 2 outside pockets are visible.

At that price, you did well too. As you know the MKVII and MKVI are getting to be very rare.

Thanks Sergei---I had an even better deal on it last night, but someone else uped the ante a little. Had to do a 7 second snipe as the ticker dropped. As many times as I've been sniped on EBay since 1999, it gave me a little pleasure doing it to get a great addition to my gear collection.
By the way, I also picked up a WWI bag before I came out here to Texas. I have not seen it yet, but my wife says it's ugly. Must be perfect then! The pics looked like it was very similar to MK VI/VII style except it did not have the snaps on the front flap. It has push through brass studs, much like the IJ holsters.

Thanks 'lil Indy. Whether repeated or not, you $.02 are always welcome. WOW, 3 bags and 1 on the way. What are you trying to do, get one for everyday of the week???
What do you use your MK VI for? Do you like the VI or VII better, and why? Sorry for the essay request, but I'd just like some input.

NOt only is it used in TOD but also TLC, the picture with Indy and Henry on teh motorcycle you can see teh drings on it, I am guessing they may have used VI for stunts? Either way it is very clear in the Films of Steven Spielberg book. I will check for a page number. Chris

the 3 i have right now are in not very good condition. I got them all for about $30. 2 of them have soldiers names on them but the other one is ok. I also have a MKVII repro bag. I like my repro bag better as of now. but that could change when i get my new one. I like my mkvii repro because its the only one i have with a leather strap right now( im planning to order a keppler of noel howard soon). i like how the pockets are all in one place in the mkvii unlike the mki. i use it as a carry on when i go on trips. it can hold tons of stuff.

Indiana
PS got any more questions... feel free to ask.
