I've been wearing my USW antique lamb G-2 and I really like the jacket. It really does "age" quickly and from normal wear you can see spots on the jacket and seams that look like it's been worn more than it has. The leather is soft, though it's still a bit shiney. I wouldn't mind finding a way to remedy that.

It's lamb, but I've had no reason to baby the jacket. Heck, for $79 (and a lot of hassle getting one that fit!) there's no reason to treat it like a silk shirt in a pasta sauce factory. I've worn it in rain and bad weather. I've even tried to shrink it in the drier here and there to get an even better fit. I wouldn't do it with any other jacket I own, but I have no worries about abusing this one.

It's a pretty warm jacket, too! Maybe it's also from the batting, but it's insulated better than my Westeds. The knit cuffs help, too. I'd give this jacket a 7-8 out of 10, especially for the money. My biggest complaint is that the fit is still a little blousy, especially for an extra-small. (And I wear a 38-40! ) It'd be nice if it were a true military cut, but considering I didn't pay so much for this jacket, I'm willing to try and shrink it again.

Glad you like your USWings Webhead. I've had a USWings Goat since 2002 and it's a very well loved jacket in my "stable." 8)

First winter with mine and so far so good. I did find however (and I suspect this is why they were 'clearance' items) that the leather on some edges is fraying. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it but it's like it's losing its color and becoming ...well...frayed. There are also a couple of scratches that came with the jacket that dont' go away with Pecards.

But that being said, I think it just adds to the 'adventure' nature of this jacket so yes, I'm still very happy with it!

P.S. In this weather I'm glad I didn't remove the fill that came with it under the lining. It's warmer than my Westeds!

I was lucky to find an Antique Lamb with the one-piece back panel and sleeves and it's breaking in nicely, all naturally :)
It's pretty warm, too. With some fleece underneath it, I can comfortably wear it in the 30's.
It has a lot of character also. At first, I was bothered by the fact that the sleeves differ in texture. One looks smoother and almost stiffer, while the other has a lot of texture and feels like it's been around more. I'm sure they're from different animals, but I like it just the same.

Not sure if the China Made Clearence jacket I got is all that different than the US made, but here is my two cents.

Loved out of the box for about 2 weeks

Did not like my sleeve lining poking out at the end of the cuffs causing a poofy effect.

Like the sleeve length and body length

Despise the 3 piece sleeves

Do not care for the narrow back panel

Gave to my buddy who loves it....

$79.00 and not missing any sleep. I am very torn between which jacket I like more.... (All SA aside)Expo in Goat OR Wested LC in Cowhide. And will never buy another of either unless I get fatter.

Arca - that's the same jacket I have too, it's leather is just fantastic!! It's really an ideal leather as far as the texture, grain and weight go. I just wish USW would correct the pattern, mostly baggy sleeves and the horrid line that runs verticaly down the back, on the one I have. But other than that it's great.

Mine doesn't have the two-piece panel, but I agree on the sleeves. I wish they were same length, just smaller diameter.

Oh, and did I mention it was $99 shipped?

I'm really tempted to call up USW and see if they can find me one that has a one piece back like yours, then have a local professional to narrow my sleeves. I've considered doing it on the one I already have because the back thing doesn't really bother me as much as it once did. It's really an under rated jacket.

With today's announcement of the price increase due the first of the year, it might be a good idea to give them a call, Doug.

I have a VIP Wings cowhide that I wear in cold weather, and it's my mainliner for that time of year. You're right. Definitely under-rated in my opinon as well.

Wait a minute... some USW jackets have a 2-pc. back panel, and some don't? Explain that one, please... somebody.

My $79 US Wings goat is a 1-piece back & 2-piece sleeves. :D I am thrilled with it. Absolutely perfect fit and great leather. Needless to say, this is my favorite jacket.

Some of them had a 2-piece back panel, with a vertical line straight down the middle. Someone here posted pics a while back. Also, some came with 3-piece sleeves, instead of 2. I believe, but can't say for sure, that those were only from the clearance import jackets. And not all of them were that way. As I mentioned here, mine is "normal."
I also made sure to call them and had them walk over to the rack to look at the jacket and describe it to me BEFORE I ordered it. What a concept  . I had no surprises when I got it :)

Not all were seconds, though. They had a LOT of old stock they needed to clear out. I've got my USW G-2 with me today.

They still have a few on their clearance page, if you're one of these odd sizes:

Otherwise, you've missed the boat.
