While the older, 'original' Magnoli bag had a screen-UNauthentic color and material (judging from the screenshots), I think it looked much better... I know it sounds odd, but this one looks waay too screen-accurate in material, and in a way, loses that originality IMO... I'm kicking myself for not getting one of those as they just looked absolutely killer... Like a contemporary Indy-gear!
Also, I know I probably am in the minority here (again), but I would personally have gone with '2007' instead of '1942' Either that, or '1936', to pay tribute to the obvious inspiration for this recreation!

I hate to 'butcher' a like-new historical artifact -- even if it's just a gas mask bag like millions of others. And yet the web strap on my Mk.VII bag is too short to allow me to wear it at the level I want to.
So this morning I ordered a Magnoli bag. I ordered it without the strap, because I've just discovered there's a Tandy Leather on the way home from work. I've made several 'slim Jim' holsters for my 1851 Navies, and a shoulder rig for a (long-ex) girlfriend for her Ruger Mk.II. Making my own strap would be an easy way for me to get back into it.

Well, it's not going as well as I'd like. We're a small company and not very self-sufficient. And I've had supply problems of every kind. I've had labor difficulties... What's so funny?
But seriously... if all goes smoothly these should be ready to ship just before Christmas. But, because of the holidays, the smallest hiccough will have them going out just after Christmas.
Kind regards,
Indy

I'm waiting on some more straps before shipping out all orders, but those should be in very soon.
Kind regards,
Magnoli

This is lookin great. If I got another bag this is what I'd get. I feel kind of bad about how hard I was on the authentic MKVII I bought from Sentimental Journey. I couldn't bring myself to replace the webbing with a leather strap, but I did wear a hole in the bottom. This looks like a really great alternative. Your stuff looks awesome Magnoli. Keep it up!

Hey, Indy Magnoli.
Rained all day today. As I approached the Canadian border it turned to snow. Some buildup on the freeway, so I reached down and pulled on the four-wheel drive. Off the freeway (a few miles before the border), and the snow was heavier. Cautious going behind a Canadian in a 2WD SUV. Came to the T-intersection. Step on the gas. Hm. Not enough. The tires barely slipped. Down to the next intersection. Ah, there's the slip I was looking for! (Just a little, but it was fun.) Pulled into my driveway. The poor MGB, under its cover of course, was covered with white stuff. Gingerly I got out of the Jeep, as I'm wearing my Aldens and they do slip a bit when the going is slick. Opened the mailbox and...
There was a parcel from New Zealand. (Funny, it never registered you were in Enn-Zed.) Across the white-covered lawn an into the house. Nice looking bag! I guess this means I'll have to get to the leather store so I can make a strap for it.
Thanks!

Well, I've got my bags from Indy Magnoli and I have to say they surpass my expectations and then some!
I've previously only owned the WPG replica in green and tan, but both of those are now well worn out. Compared to those, Indy Magnoli's Mk VII is slightly bigger, made of a more durable canvas, has better snaps (they actually work well to keep the flap closed) and better stitching. The internal divider for the main section is perfect too as it prevents the bag from "sagging out" when loaded up. All I need to do is give them a surface spray of DWR and they will be out in the field!
Thank Indy Magnoli for making these excellent bags!

I've carried my previous Indy Magnoli satchel for a year now -- daily, everywhere, usually stuffed to the gills. Just got the new version in the mail, and it's definitely an improvement: heavier & more durable; no sharp edges on the strap rings to wear through too fast.
Btw, Indy's strap is excellent as well. I can't believe how comfortable it is, especially with a lot of weight. I'd expect such a thin strap to cut in to my body more, but in actuality it feels better than wider straps that have a shoulder pad on them. Truly weird.
Thanks, Indy -- good work!
Ted

i actually made a leather bag based on a mkvii for someone not to long ago sadly i don't have any pics of it. i used an oiled utility leather, thinking about making another for myself. The Pilot wrote:Sounds like he's expecting them soon. I decided to make my own because I used to do a little leatherwork and thought it would be an easy way to get back into it. Don't know how SA it will be, but it will be functional.
