Correct way of wearing the pants.

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

I think he is referring to how Indy's is wearing his pants higher on the waist in the KotCS pictures. Like I said in this thread, I know your pants tend to get higher as you get older, but does this need to happen to Indy? To me it just makes him look older than he needs to.

2 things...

1. he IS older... and it's ok. There is NO point in pretending he hasn't aged.. doesn't make him any less cool...

2. wearing them higher was the style in the 50's... and even though he's still wearing his gear... it HAS been updated... because it's not the exact same pants and such a he had in the 30's.... they're NEW pants... it's a NEW jacket...

This is all just the cover, folks... let's not judge the book too harshly by it.

I'm like you, I put my pants on one leg at a time. But when I wear pants, I make gold records.

I have always been told that your waist line is at or just a smidge below your belly button. That is where I have always worn my pants, Is this wrong ? If I wear them any lower , it just feels weird.

I wear my pants around my waist and NOT on my hips. If I wear my pants anywhere else, it feels weird, it bothers the heck out of me, and I can't stand it. Besides, my pants are going to gravitate to the proper spot, regardless.

I don't like a bunch of pant material bunched up at the ankle when the pants are hemmed too long. It feels weird and it bothers me. I like a full break for properly hemmed and tailored pants. Besides, if I try to have too much material bunched up around the ankles, the pant material gets stepped on by the heel of the shoe and destroys the pants.

I need a lot of crotch room, anything less and I can't tolerate it and it makes me sing soprano. That's all I have to say about that.

The bottom line is, I wear the pants so they are comfortable to me. If they are screen accurate or not, so be it. I am not willing to change.

Reminds me of that Jeff Altman bit:

I've got a few pairs of vintage pants and the waist is right at the bellybutton - and they seem very high waisted (but look real swell!). In fact, I'm wearing a pair of 1950's East German police trousers right now and they comfortably rest that high.

You've got to be kidding me! What's next? A tutorial on the proper ratio of the distance between the waist and the belly-button!?! Surely there are better things to discuss than this!

You mean whether the hat was brown or grey and such? Whether the bag strap has grooves or not?

This topic seems right about on track for Club Obi Wan.

No, I do not.

Again, no.

Not even close
So... When do we get to discuss socks and underwear? How about what deodorant, soap, or shampoo if he used any? What detergent did Indiana Jones use to wash his unmentionables? Those are all "part of the costume/persona" of Indiana Jones.

Look... I can understand trying to determine what color the hat is or whether the bag strap has grooves. Those are germane to the costume. Dissecting how high the pants are worn goes beyond Indy gear as a hobby.

Most of the young extras on "The Good German" had to be told how to wear a hat - they were wearing them backwards or way back on the crown of their heads rather than right over the eyebrows like we assume you would naturally. I see no difference with discussing pantszes.

This is no more looney than the concept and quest for 'The Turn' in the fedora.

Thanks guys! ;)

One way is to sew a wallet stuck to them and they'll be gone in 60 seconds.

My way? Send them on a trip around the world or so, or see to it you have a summit coming up that you really need them for. 8)

This would probably be a good time to wear pants. You may quote me on that.

Oh, and I don't agree with the ToD mine hat being crappy.

Swindy, my dear brother. Many an occasion do crave the use of pants, or at least pant-like items, as I've tried to explain to you. Appearing without them may be seen as sort of a faux pas in most social circumstances.

Yes, clicking that italics button is barrels of fun!

Nothing crappy about all things ToD. Period.

Did anyone else notice he's got a different gun belt, and it's buckled the opposite direction?

This belt has a leather keeper, and I don't recall ever seeing that much extra gunbelt hanging down before. :-k

If I may venture an opinion on Indy's belt line... I don't think it's much higher than the previous movies. Maybe a little bit, but not much. I honestly think the jacket is longer, which makes the pants look much higher. Because if I follow your "higher pants" theory, I'd have to wear my own Indy pants well above my belly button for my jacket to look that long. And I had Wested add an inch. And my US Wings is ToD length, and it still wouldn't look that long.

Just a thought.
