Help for HJ Repair

Post by CarolinaQuirk »

Hi Folks,

Well I thought I would seek the sage advice of the fellow denizens of this board and see what opinions people have - I am looking for an individual/vendor who would be able to cinch/re-stich my ribbon and give my trusty old HJ a ROTLA reblock. Any thoughts?

Sure, the HJ is from Todd's - right now the ribbon has been removed from the brim save for the tack stiches at the bow (I was going to re-stich it myself, but the more I thought about it the more I considered giving her a total refit) - I'd post some recent pics, but I manged to leave her at my parents house over Thanksgiving - I'll have it back in a week or so, but below are some pics I took a few months ago:

I understand from what Steve has said that it's not safe to reblock a standard HJ Raiders style because of the way the sweat band is machined into the hat. The number of stitches causes the brim to split from the hat when you try and stretch it. That's why the Magnoli HJ's are put together from the component parts by Steve. Hope that helps

Have you tried Jimmy Pierce? I think I heard that someone had a HJ reblocked by him.

CQ,

You CAN reblock the HJ's - you just have to be careful not to pull too hard on the brim.

If you send it to me, I can have it done by Baron's in Burbank. It should run about $50 I think. I'll be glad to handle it for you.

Todd
