...DM whips? His website (at least at first glance, to me) would have you believe he stocks them - made up ahead, you know. The one 8'er on E-bay right now purports something like, "...why wait for 6-8 weeks for one..."
How about the timing for the other quality whipsters? Averagely speaking, of course.
Thanks.
Sergei? How about turn around time on...

David Morgan has just recently purported that he is caught up entirely with his backlog of orders. So he is now, about 2 to 4 weeks.
As far as the other quality whip makers:
- Joe Strain (about 4 weeks)
- Paul Stenhouse (on sabatical til August)
- Bernie (about 6 weeks)
However, too many to list the rest, but 6 to 8 weeks is very typical. In fact, I am working on getting a set of Janine Fraser whips and her backlog is 3 months. It used to be, 5 to 6 months.
So the claim on Ebay is somewhat true. But specifically to Morgan, until recently, he set the expectation when placing the order that it was 6 to 8 weeks. I just checked his web site. If you order any bullwhip in the 12 plait braid, it shows he can ship NEXT DAY. However, I see the specialty whips are 4 weeks (i.e. the 16 plait bullwhips).
Hope this helps...

Cabinetman, Bill Walton here.
Welcome to COW, I am the seller of the 8 foot Morgan on Ebay. The time frame I quoted is David's average time to complete, I did not check the current time.
That said, you can't dispute the price.
I bought the whip for sale as a backup to my every day Morgan 8. However, the every day one shows no signs of wear so I am selling the new one.
Thanks for looking, I just wanted to clear things up, I was not trying to be deceptive.

Bill, thanks for this info. The exact same thought has come to my mind about my DM8. I am happy to hear you are getting good results with it.Whipcrack wrote:I bought the whip for sale as a backup to my every day Morgan 8. Cheers,

Bill...er...WhipCrack,
Not at all. My perception was not that of deception.
Being new to I-gear, I just wanted to hear, if over DM timing I might shed a tear. Your price is quite right, but I'm not sure if I'll bite, for my wife may well kick my fair rear. Yet she knows what is best, she picked me, you might have guessed, and for that I am truly blessed. So on my watch page you sit. Perhaps when it's done I'll have bit. And we'll have one fine whipcracking fest!
