Nice pics Bogie.
Yes, it does seem that the arm holes are a bit big...something that has been a topic of discussion here lately. It would seem that the size of the arm holes could be decreased when the jacket is made. This would make this area of the jacket more "fitted" as it would take away from a possible "wing" aspect alot of modernly cut jackets seem to have. Doing this would lend to a slimmer fit along the side of the body and under the arm - the start of the slim around the bicep/tricep area wouldn't be as roomy either. Since this jacket is based on a piece of clothing that "came" from the 30's, when jackets were more fitted, a more tight fit at the top of the sleeve and the side area would make sense.
Granted, I know that puppetboy took measurements from a jacket used in the Raiders film. Still, to me at least, if this nit pic aspect was able to be altered for those wanting a more tight fit in this area, it would be a much welcomed alternative to have incorporated into ones individual order.
But you know what, even with this small aside, Todd's custom jacket is still TOPS by a long shot when it comes to the Raiders jacket.

Dre,
Yes, I did reduce my armholes since I made that jacket. The armhole proportions on that jacket were taken from the expedition. Afterwards I decided that it just didn't coincide with what I saw on screen.
Still, those sleeves coincide with several off-the-rack jackets I have, so they are not out of the norm.

So because of intuitiveness and by using visual common sense, he's already changed the arm hole dimensions on the custom jacket, for the reasons listed above, to make it even better. Why am I not suprised?
Good onya mate!

Hopefully the standard I ordered has the smaller armholes (at least I certainly hope it does).Puppetboy wrote:Dre,

Edit: I've been told now that none of Todd's jackets have the larger armholes anymore.

Alright, here goes nothing. Well, my first impression of the Todd's Standard was honestly a wow. The lamb is very fine and smooth. It is a thin hide however with that it can have a dressy feel to it. The standard lamb is obviously lighter than my custom cowhide. The stitching on the standard lamb is very clean and consistant. In terms of pattern, the differences are very small and to me unimportant. Such as the side straps are not split on one side like with my custom cowhide. Accurate or not, in this case I prefer them without the split. The side strap buckles are larger on the standard lamb but that is not an issue to me. The zipper on the standard lamb seems to be a no-name zipper whereas my custom cowhide has a YKK zipper. The YKK zipper is a little more heavy duty. Now on to the fit of the jacket. My standard lamb is a size small and with that this is one of the best fitting Indy jackets I own. I generally order a size 38 from either Wested or Flightsuits. Todd's size small is just a bit more fitted than a 38 from Wested or Flightsuits. I can wear a 36, which is perfect, however if it's a 36 Reg I can have sleeve length issues. I am 5'11", 120 lbs, and Todd's size small fits me just right.
Overall I am blown away by this offering. This is a wonderful jacket for only $150. I have to give a big thanks to Todd once again for stepping up and offering an affordable and accurate Raiders jacket. I feel the pattern is nearly perfect, the hide offerings are of good quality and the service is wonderful. Now on to pictures, I have taken several you will see linked below. If you would like any specific pictures taken, please feel free to request them.

great comparison bogie! what i found different between the 2 is that the large offering had me squeezing my arms and shoulders into the armholes, making for a tighter body and hence eliminating the flying squirrel effect. i found the standard to be quite snug......much like what you see in the raven bar and in the well of souls. my most recent custom lamb has more room much like the temple scenes and imam's house.
thanks god todd is around for us crazy fanatics. i'm glad you're enjoying todd's jackets

Thanks very much G. Indeed I am enjoying my Todd's jackets. As I have stated before, I prefer a snug fit with my jackets. I think it only proper that I post some pics of me wearing the jacket.

Great comparison Bogie, really appreciate you taking all the time to post the pics and all. That jacket does look nice and I think it might even fit you a little better than the custom, but only slightly. Hey, btw what lineing is on your custom, it looks like cotton - whatever it is I like it more than the standard satin.

Todd´s standard is a nice jacket.
I wonder why my jacket doesn´t have accurate pocket flaps. I have to say I´m a bit disappointed about that.

The lining on my custom has a cotton body with some sort of satin sleeves. Yes I also feel this new jacket fits me better than my custom, in some regards. Either way I love them both.Doug C wrote:Great comparison Bogie, really appreciate you taking all the time to post the pics and all. It arrived two weeks ago.
I´d like to give it a try. How exactly does it work? Is there a tutorial around here?Indiana G wrote:lc, why don't you try the leather soak/pulling trick to fix up those pocketflaps?? i believe it was technonut who posted his results from platon's method.....it was like night and day i must say....
