Vintage 1940s Indy-style shirt!

Post by sebas »

Hey guys,

I bought this shirt a few years ago at an Army-Navy Surplus store in Oak Park, Illinois. As you can see, it's a pretty standard poplin khaki army issue shirt. But on the inside I noticed it was a shirt from 1948! When I bought it, it was like new, which leads me to believe that it had come out of some factory box from back then that was probably never opened...

The company that made it is "Mylan-Sparta Co." I Googled it and nothing comes up other than a mention of a National Labor Relations Board lawsuit against them in 1948. Obviously, the company is now defunct...

Oh, yeah. It cost me 4 dollars... :!:

Anyway, the pics. One with flash, the other without and the detail on the inside.

Enjoy!

Yep that's cool, I usually think of poplin as being thin but your shirt looks kind of thick, is it?

It might be the lighting, but no, the shirt is very thin.
