More Mark VI or VII

Post by Gater »

ok, I just won this auction. So begins the opinion as to if this is, in fact, a Mark VII. A careful look at the dark pic would seem to have the proper metal drain holes in the sides (that my VI does not have). Maybe the mask in the pic is a Mark VII mask. If anyone would know, it's one of us. So, chime in with opinions....

and talk about coming pre-distressed. (p.s. Anyone wanna buy a bagless gasmask??)

Gater,
Lucky you! Good find, If I hadnt forgotten I was going to drop a bid on that myself, but it wouldnt have been to high, due to the shipping from Scotland, especially the extra weight of the mask and tin. As owner of about 30 various MKVII, and MKVI
Yes it is a MKVII - looking at the pic, you can see the small pocket and string at the bottom of the bag, you can see the most obvious marker, the metal disc. The other thing, is, the strap is sewn on, every MKVI ive seen has small "hooks" that hold the strap on to the rings. Im not sure what you mean by drain holes on the sides of the bag though.....except maybe that very small one near the string pocket -
SO! To summarize youve got yourself a MKVII, and yes, a MKVII gas mask and tin!! :)
Cheers!
IJ

PS RE Sell the mask and tin on ebay - Or if its in good condition, and the rubber hose is still supple and not cracking, hold on to it!

WOO-HOO!! \:D/ Happy Dance!!

I think I'll sell off the mask, I need the cash. Probably shouldn't have bid on it in the first place, but hadda take the gamble that it was a VII. (also hadda sell off some James Bond stuff on E-Bay to front the cash, too...but well worth it now that you've confirmed what it is!)

Thanks for the info, James.
