Need Help Trimming My Federation
Watching the movies it's quite clear that Indy's brim isn't as wide as what you get when you order a Fed, so I'm wanting to trim my brim a little to make the hat look a little more like it belongs on my head. My one fear is screwing up and not cutting it symmetrical (I want it to flow and not be jagged) any tips on how to do this correctly and not screw my hat up? Thanks

My grey Fed was too big for my rather narrow face. I set a drafting compass to 1/4 inch. With the pointer riding against the edge of the brim I scribed a line all the way around the brim. I took a pair of regular house hold scissors and cut the brim going counter clockwise. BTW it was very easy to cut right down the line, felt cut very easy. I then smoothed the cut edge with 150 grit sandpaper followed by 320 grit.
