Todd's Belts
I've been eyeballing Todd's gunbelts for a while and have a question. Which one is better: Deluxe or basic? the basic looks more accurate colorwise, but the deluxe looks nicer.

I bought the deluxe and never looked back. From what I've read here in the archives, the regular gunbelt is good, but it isn't really made to hold the weight of the gun, so it stretches. I could be wrong though, as I don't own one. But I really am very happy with the deluxe, so I suggest you go with that.

Hey I got that version too Shorty. I was annoyed by the unfinished back as well. TODD did say something about it being accurate tool leather or somesuch and that's what the back of Indy's belt would be like....but...mmm...I dunno. Anyone with more knowledge here?
Regards
Christian
PS I am not knocking the deluxe BTW in a major way. It's still a beautiful piece to have and wear:)

the main reason I didn't get the belt from todd was because of the unfinished back.. and the leather just looks stiff and crack prone. I would definitely recommend getting the keppler belt. it's the same price and it comes with the SA whip holder attached, and it's a completely finished belt. looks like anything you'd pick up in a department store, as far as quality. I bought the western stage props version, and it's amazingly good quality.. but unless you're willing to change out the crappy keeper, I'd buy direct from lee.

todd's budget belt is the right colour but the leather is quite low grade and does stretch out to the point where you buckle up, the width of the belt narrows out.
todd's deluxe is quite nice and becomes softer wth an application of pecard. i would recommend that as soon as you get it as the leather is quite dry. the colour is more of a reddish hue and will darken a tadd with the leather dressing.
after those belts i went with a NH and never looked back.....correct stitching, correct colour, nice thick leather, heavy buckle.......now if only that #### whip holder would keep closed

I normally keep my mouth shut when I cant say anything really nice )
But in this case I will drop my 2 cents (or is it 10?) because the gunbelt is one of my own personal gear-favourites.
You can see a clear photo of the Todd belt on my "for sale"page: http://www.kentbovin.com/COW/Todd%20gunbelt.htm
I dont mention it trying to sell it, since it has allready been advertised in the Cairo Bazar, but because I was a little disappointed when I received it. Well, it may not exactly be a bad belt. But with the use of the term "De Luxe" I certainly had expected a whole lot more, especially compared to similar belts from other vendors. Needless to say the Noel Howard is a lot better, it's also a lot more expensive, but even the belt from TAG (when they were made) were considerably better IMHO.
Todd makes a very fine bagstrap, and gloves too, but I believe there is room for some improvement on the "DL-gunbelt"
I still need to see a Keppler, but they sound interesting too.
Cheers
