Great review and it looks good on you. It's very hard for me to put my finger on what it is that makes Todds jackets look more SA than my Wested... it's a host of little things I guess that just make it work. I'd get another one if I could afford it at the moment.

Good to know the measurement issue isn't a typical thing. Compared to my chalk line that is nothing, the one on mine is down the entire right side, not just partially, of course if it's not a sign of being off measurement I don't care about it but since mine is off on that side I can't help but wonder. I'm glad your jacket is A-ok, gives me hope that my exchange will be fine. Thanks for the update AC.

Great pics, AC! You've got some excellent SA gear there, even down to the buckle on the bagstrap.

Did you guys get an e-mail confirmation before yours shipped? I haven't gotten any kind of confirmation yet and I'm trying to figure out when I should expect mine.

AC, the jacket looks really good. It's nice to see the jacket outdoors. I was beginning to wonder how "light" the color actually was on it.

So the sleeves are tapered, correct?

I got mine the day after I ordered. It came in from sender "Quantum View", you could have deleted it as spam, I almost did. If it's been over a couple of days I would contact Todd.

Pitfall,

check your spam box or deleted items folder. Quantum View is UPS's tracking e-mail system.

I'm looking forward to more reviews/opinions. One note on the leather - the jackets have been shipped and stored in a flat stack - in otherwords, they've been squished flatter than a pancake. When you first take it out of the bag, it looks really stiff and cheap. After a few days of wear, the life sort of returns to the leather and it "fluffs back up" a bit and looks and feels better. I've worn my "road tester" for six days now and it just gets better and better.

I ordered my jacket last Wednesday night....Oct 10th and I never received any type of confirmation that it had been shipped. I checked to see if I deleted the e-mail by mistake and I didn't I usually check my mail everyday and I've been looking for something to let me know when it was shipped.

I was charged for the purchase....so I know Todd got the order. :?

Check your e-mail. Your package is due to arrive tomorrow. It went out 10/11. Sometimes people don't get the tracking e-mails - I might have entered your e-mail address incorrectly and wouldn't know. Sometimes they get eaten in the spam filters.

now that is a great review AC. you've covered all the bases for potential customers.....way more descriptive than what you find on a website for anybody selling anything these days.

i could practically feel that leather. thanks for sharing my friend. looks like these jackets will be filling a much needed niche in the jacket gear area. way to go todd :D

Wow, the color looks really good in my opinion. It doesn't come off as dark as my goatskin does but it's also not to light where it looks off.

Even though winter will quickly be here I'm still kinda glad this jacket is lighter than the others. I didn't really plan on wearing it out UNLESS I was shooting Indy pics and it will make it much easier for me to wear it next summer. Wearing the other jacket out in the sun is a killer.

Reading your review and seeing the pics really has me chomping at the bit to get mine. :)

A.C., thanks for the effort you put into those great photos and your thorough review. You make my jacket look great, that's for sure. One of the joys of this business is when I get to see people wearing my stuff. I'm sure the other guys on this board appreciate your effort, too.

BTW, did anyone see Roy Jones Jr wearing my gladiator suit before his match with Anthony Hanshaw? That was cool for me.

I look forward to more comments/impressions. Thanks again, AC!

I just got my Indy jacket about an hour ago! :D

I don't know when I'll have some pics to post of me wearing it but I have to say I love it!!!!

I bought an extra large because that's what I usually wear and the thing fits me like a glove. It's perfect!

I love the color and the leather. I think AC's review really does a good job of covering everything about this jacket so as far as all that goes I really don't have anything new to add at the moment.

There REALLY isn't any breaking in time with the jacket. I know Todd mentioned that the jacket might be a little stiff from shipping and that but I took it out of the box and wore it around the house for a few minutes and it's really starting to relax and conform to my figure. It doesn't come off looking to bulky at all.

Putting this on and then putting my Wested goat on is like night and day. This is definitely a perfect "Jungle Adventure" jacket. Although, I think the goat would probably still win the durability contest. The leather is really thin and I'm not sure how much "punishment" it could take. So no "truck bumper skiing" for me when I'm wearing this.

Thank you, Todd. I love it. I put this jacket on and looked in the mirror and I automatically heard the Raiders march in my head. You really hit this one out of the park. :D

Oh, and I checked my jacket and I did not find any chalk marks and I don't seem to have the same problem that Snipes was running into with his jacket.

OK, now I've seen everything-- including a $150 Indy jacket that is perfect-- ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!

It fits like a glove, and I don't see any of those minor construction issues that others experienced.

You were right, Todd, it does seem a little flimsy and cheap when first taken out of the box, but the more you wear it, the better it "fills out."

And it is more screen accurate and fits me way better than either of the 2 Wested lambs I've owned.

Aeris's photos are an accurate representation-- this jacket screams "Indy!" when you put it on.

Steve's Magnoli HJ and your Standard Indy-- all within a few days of each other. What have I done to deserve this?

Seriously, thank you for making this jacket available-- I'm not exagerrating when I say it's one of the best bargains I've ever seen.

VERY WELL DONE, TODD!!

Jack

Sorry I can't provide pics at this time, but as I said, the photos Aeris already posted tell a large part of the story. I have a feeling this jacket is destined to become a best seller.

Pitfall, it's interesting how our posts, written about the same time, seem almost to mirror each other-- I had not read your review before writing mine. Your experience pretty much confirms mine; this jacket is the real deal. I'd highly recommend it. The only question is how it holds up to daily use, and only time can tell that.

Yeah, I think that's the only basic "unknown" with this jacket at the moment. And....like everyone else says it's going to just take time...

I usually "baby" my stuff to some degree. I only recently added dirt to my Wested, but.....That's not really distressing it. I ended up cleaning it off and it looks brand new. So I don't see myself really putting Todd's jacket to the test either. I may add some dirt to get a certain look but I honestly don't know if I'll even do that. This jacket looks so much like what you see onscreen that I don't think I need to add anything to "sell it" as an Indy jacket.

Oh, and one thing I forgot to add. I don't know how the others feel about this but I personally love the strap config on this new jacket. I hate messing with those "D" Rings. This config is much simpler and easier to adjust.......plus the straps actually stay put!!! :D

So, is the general consensus that the details on the Todd's Standard jacket are as accurate as those on the Todd's Custom?

Haven't seen the Todd's custom in person, so I can't answer that-- but I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could afford it right now. In fact, I'm kicking myself for not taking him up on his special discount offer for COW members, which has since expired.

It's probably a bit picky, but since we're all in to the SA details, one thing I've noticed just now is that the front edge of the (wearer's) left collar exposes a little too much of the top of the storm flap, whereas the Wested in AC's comparison pics appears to have it more SA. Would others agree?

If that detail could be corrected, I reckon I could be ordering one myself soon.

The top corner of my Wested's storm flap is bent down a little. You could easily do the same thing with the Todd's although I preferred to leave mine the way it came. Personally, these little details don't matter much to me, but I understand that they do to others.

I see what you're saying and I think you get what I'm saying. But just so I'm clear, I'm referring specifically to where the front end of the collar attaches to the top edge of the storm flap, and the gap between that point and the corner of the storm flap.

Considering Todd's exceptional attention to detail on this jacket, I'm just a little surprised that this particular element was overlooked.

I think I understand what you are describing. The gap is there on Todd's, but it's narrower. By, perhaps a half inch, I'd say. Actually, that's because the storm flap itself is narrower on Todd's than on my Wested, which I'm not at all sure is accurate anyway. Forgive me if I'm not understanding you, but I can't see too much of a difference, really. Bad eyes, maybe.

If this helps you, the storm flap on Todd's matches exactly with my newer Wested stonerwashed denim Indy-- at least, to my eyes.

I still can't tell the difference. The biggest thing I notice about the jacket in that photograph is how much it reminds me of the one I just received!

Maybe someone else who has both a Wested and Todd's jacket will be able to help...

I think what it is is that Todd's jacket has the front end of the collar attach directly above the vertical seam of the storm flap whereas the Wested, and I'm assuming the actual Raiders jacket, appear to have the front end of the collar attach about halfway past the vertical storm flap seam, which leaves less of the top of the storm flap exposed. Or am I just imagining things? :)

I think I understood you better this time. The end of the collar on Todd's definitely does not attach directly to the seam.

Aeris_Canon wrote:It's all in good fun, Eazybox. (And congrats on getting your jacket! You and Piftall.) I'm just trying to see if Satipo is seeing the same issues in the last pic as he is in the first few that I took before, and would really like to know what his thoughts are regarding the latest pic in terms of what he's seeing.

Neither of which is enough to throw me off from liking the jacket at this point (as it really does fill out over the course of a few days) I'm just wondering what, specifically, Satipo is on about.

This stormflap thing might be an issue of "new jacket" syndrome. Things not laying the way they're supposed to right out of the box, etc.
Thanks, Aeris. Todd hit a home run on this one. :D

Okay, AC, eazybox, sorry I took a while to respond, but I had to get some sleep. 8)

I believe this image will illustrate what I'm seeing:

Image

There are essentially two related points I'm making here.

1) The gap between the red dots indicates the width of the exposed top edge of the storm flap, i.e. the distance from the corner to where it meets the collar. It seems much smaller on the Wested, and that seems more in line with what I see in Raiders.

2) The gap between the parallel red lines indicates the width of the storm flap, i.e. the distance from the edge to the seam. Now, the front edge of Todd's collar seems to attach directly above where the storm flap seam is pointing, whereas Wested's collar's front edge attaches above a point nearer to the middle of the storm flap, which explains why the gap between the dots is smaller on Wested's.

Now, I'm not sure if detail 2 is more SA in Wested's case, but it does seem to help it achieve detail 1, which does appear more SA.

What do you reckon?

The collar on my Todd jacket attaches in the middle of the storm flap. The collar on my Wested attached above the storm flap seam.... In other words, it's the exact reverse of what you seem to observe on these two jackets.

What's more SA in your opinion, djd?
