Discovery Channel "Dirty Jobs" leather making Epis

Anyone catch the "Dirty jobs", leather making episode on Discovery channel this past week? It made me appreciate the difficult process involved in producing/tanning quality leathers. A "Dirty" Job indeed!!

Yeah I did catch that one, although I missed the very beginning and the name/place of that tannery. Being an engineer, I've always loved seeing how things get made, and with leather, it seems as much an art form as a techinal process. Some of the equipment there, the "softening machine" and the square footage calculator are just pure artifacts...great stuff.

I also missed the beginning of the show. I too noticed the equipment appeared somewhat "shopworn" to say the least.
