Always wondered why they selected the webly with its oddball cartridge size.
A garden variety 1911 style .45 in a shoulder rig wudda been a much more realistic & useable choice for our favorite adventurer.
Its my opinoin & i'm stickin' to it..........heh

I found a prop blank firing gun at a gun show, looked just like Indys, but it shot stange blanks. Didn't have enough money, but I do have another prop Indy gun, never really tried to fit it, maybe it holds 9mm... I'm not sure why they chose it, odd don't you think? With the browning HP in Raiders, and the Colt in Tod (though it was only shot once or twice) it does seem odd...
But the Webley is the best Indy gun IMHO.

Re: Webley
Maybe the .455 was more avalible back then. Maybe some of the gun experts would know about this sort of thing. You have a point, you'd want a gun that would be easy to reload. Then again he could have had it modified for 45, that would have been a better choice for the globe trotting adventurer...rbxb wrote:Webley is just not a practical choice for Indy. Not in the 1930s & not today.
A world traveler would choose a weapon with more readily availible ammo.....

The real reason?
I asked Rob MacGregor that question point blank, and his reply was that he saw one in a gun store once, and liked it's appearance so much that he wrote it into his storyline. Period. He's not a gun collector, but does wander in and out of the stores for research. No other reason. I totally agree on the opinions above, and my thoughts on this choice is scattered all through this site and others. Regards. Michaelson
