Quest for Shirt...part:??

Post by MARQ »

I´ve got a question(s) according the Indy-Shirt: who makes the best one(Wested?),are they accurate compared to the original, which one is aka "80´s fit" shirt. The main thing is that I´m looking for a shirt that isn´t too baggy and for my taste has some length in the sleeves...What I´ve looked Wested has the "S,M,L,XL,XXL "sizes and good price. But does Peter make alterations if asked like slim it down a bit and so on!
Shirt owners among us fans tell your insights on the subject, so I can make some conclusions.

There have been many discussions on this subject. If you dig around this section, you should find the answers you're after fairly easily.

i have the NH and love it but it is a bit pricey. I think Marc is workin on doin an AB version of the NH shirt witch wich will basicly be identical in every way except the price. If you can talk him into hookin you up with one of those you will have the best of both worlds. As far as the other options out there i have not really looked into them.

Magnoli Clothiers also makes an excellent "Adventure Shirt" to your measurements.

If you are looking for slim fitting shirts - I would not suggest WPG - theirs are boxy.

If you are concerned about fit, order one from Magnoli as it will be custom fit to your measurements. Magnoli also offers several color choices as well, although the stone color is the most SA.

Moro Markku, I'm looking forward to the AB shirt. Best options ATM IMO are the Magnoli and Wested.

I own a NH for five years now and it is still great! I'm really happy with it.
But yeah, it can be very expensive now. Don't know what the prices are now.

I have a Wested and a NH. The NH is much better but nearly twice the price. The Wested material is thicker than the NH but no where near as thick as the WPG shirt. The collar and cuffs of the Wested go all lumpy if you wash it at anything over 30 degrees- something to do with the glue used I think. Not good and not something I've seen on anything but the cheapest shirts. Two of my Wested buttons came off sceond time I wore it. So quality is not great IMHO. Having said that, aside from the NH it's the best Indy shirt out there (until Marc releases his). The fit is fairly slim unlike the horrible WPG 'sack'.

I'm thinking of getting one of Todd's shirts. What offsets me getting a Wested shirt is I don't think they are dyed (they're just white) I don't have the time to fool with trying to get the right color. Plus living in CA I'd get it much faster from Todd and pay less.

Todds shirt is the WPG shirt last time I looked. It's not screen accurate - very heavy material and the fit is HUGE. I'm a a 46 with big shoulders but for a WPG to fit you'd need to have a massive gut on you. Really, they are like tents.... The Wested shirt isn't white- its a yellowy- beige colour. Close, but not as good as the NH colour wise.

Well that's good to know, I'll plan on looking into the NH's then seem to be the best. Thanks :D

Yes the NH is a lovely shirt but it's very expensive. The one Marc is making looks very good and will be a lot cheaper....

The AB shirt is still going through some tuning and the preorders are being taken if I'm not mistaken. The Wested shirt is also nice but lacking in some details, the Magnoli's best argument is that it's custom tailored to your own specs.

NH's are über accurate but bloody expensive, the AB shirt intends to offer the same product for less money.

NH is only like $30 more than the Wested right? Or are the prices on page about NH old?

That looks familiar... Customers within the EU get to pay 17.5% tax on top of that which is harsh!

I have magnoli's shirt and it is bloody awsome looking and very comfortable to wear. I would recommend his as it is tailored to fit you and it is under $100 w/ shipping. Great product!

I have on order one of the AB shirts, and am really anxious to get it.

I wish I had a NH shirt as well...

A bit off topic, but has anybody bought a NH shirt recently? I emailed him asking about getting one with dark buttons on it back at the end of August, and he said he would have some in a few weeks, and would let me know. In the middle of September, I emailed back to ask if he had any in stock, as I thought maybe he had lost my information, and he replied that he would get in touch when they were ready... It's already been almost two months now, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows if he has any in stock? I'd email him again, but I don't want to come off as being too incessant. ;)

Yeah, I bought one about a month ago. Mind you, it's the pale Raiders buttons, so I'm not sure if their availability is different. He told me that the shirt was out of stock, too. A week after I asked he emailed me letting me know that they were in stock, and I recieved them about a week later. Again, I'm still not sure what the availability is on the dark buttons, but I hope this helps. The shirt is totally worth the wait, though... :o

I just bought a dark buttoned NH shirt from another member who bought a L but found out he needed an XXL. Aparently it was purchased only a couple of weeks ago and because it didnt fit I got it from him as I was going to order one soon anyways.
Maybe another email wouldnt hurt, could always do it from another email address and sign a different name if you're worried you'll be bothering him

what is the website for Wested? also how much do they run price wise? I'm thinking of getting the LL Bean as a close enough for the time being.. so I can also wear it fishing etc. BUT if there's a more sa shirt reasonably priced I'd go for that and save in the long run.. so long as it's durable for wearing regularly

Sounds good. I was just there today ordering a new ribbon and Fuller's. Maybe I should have re looked at the shirts.

Edit::

Indeed they do.. they used a film worn shirt as a guide. available at the end of March. according to the site.

For the LC look, the Magnoli shirt in 'light khaki' is perfection.
Great fit, (made to measure) midium weight - 100%cotton and shipping included!
I've just received this item, so, pics will be posted in due course.
