Wested Sleeve Length

Post by JAGordon »

My Wested just arrived last week and it is great but with one problem...the sleeves, for my taste, are a little long. Is it possible to alter the sleeve length through a leather shop or seamstress? I want to get this issue resolved before I start to distress it.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest going to a professional leather alteration place. That way you can rest a little easier knowing that your jacket is in the hands of people who know leather. Sleeve alterations should be no big deal to a pro.

JMO but if you can't find a leather specialist, or they are asking a crazy amount to do it, a regular seamstress can do it, they just need to have the right backing tape and make sure they realise you want it to look exactly like they already are, just shorter! I can imagine nightmare scenarios where someone stiched right round the cuff like the bottom of a pair of jeans! Shudder!

That being said, wear it for at least a couple of weeks, the leather will ride up a bit. That's why so many of us recommend measuring to the first knuckle... at first it seems long but once the sleeves wrinkle up it fits perfectly. (well that's the theory!).

BTW what leather did you get. Pic's please. :)

KT, First thanks for the tips, as I need all the info I can get my hands on. I got the Raiders Authentic Lamb. I'll have to get back to you on the pics in the next day or so.
